With the unending responsibilities of a mom like me, the family duties, kids' attentions, and my daily hustle for our home needs, the mental demands and what have you, my life is always as busy as the busy bees.
But think of a perfect afternoon for me; how would it look to make it perfect? Well, a perfect afternoon for me isn't about luxury or any form of extravagant lifestyle but the refresh of my mind; it's about finding peace and comfort, it's about being in nature and getting the needed refresh of my mind and soul that I always crave, but then a lot drags my attention.
Hence, a perfect afternoon for me entails that I find myself in my beautiful and calm environment, filled with nature, devoid of distractions, devoid of "Mommy, I want this; I want that," devoid of noises around, and devoid of husband requests for one thing or the other, but instead, me and me alone, swinging and eating popcorn without thinking of one chore at home or the other and without thinking of separating kids' fights or dragging of toys, lol.
I can imagine myself under the shade of a mango tree at Lufasi Nature Park, with the soft and gentle breeze blowing from my head to the sole of my feet with the sounds of those birds from a distance. Oh, what a heavenly imagination. I wouldn't deny that I have been there before, but with my kids, exploring nature, and ever since then, I have been promising myself to visit alone without fulfilling this promise. What more of a perfect afternoon can I ask for but being there at the nature park alone and getting disconnected from outside work for a while?
Maybe I'll put my phone on silent mode, get a table beside me with chilled juice and my favorite dessert, and reflect and relax on my life without rushing to meet up with one deadline or the other. I also imagine soft music playing by my side softly, and maybe I will be journaling a lot with that kind of serene environment.
I think a perfect afternoon is quite achievable; it's about being intentional with whatever we want to achieve. I can imagine the peace such an environment will bring to my heart. The opportunity to pause and appreciate life and relax more would be something amazing to experience.
At times, the most perfect moments are the quiet ones we rarely create time for.
