One of those moments where I feel so free, relieved, and happy is a moment I find myself playing football with others.
A lot of people think more about men whenever they hear football, but here is me having this type of physical activity as one of the best that boosts my confidence, relieves me of stress, and gives me unusual happiness.
I developed an interest in football ever since I was in primary school. At that age, during my secondary school time, I started playing for both outside and within school events, winning prizes. Even when I sustained a heavy injury, it didn't stop me from loving this game. Funny enough, I enjoy playing football far more than watching others play on television.
Fast forward to my life as a mom, I still find myself playing football to date. No doubt, this type of physical activity has a way of pulling me out of a bad mood to a better state of mood.
Once I am on the field, my worries are gone, hahaha. Nothing else, like heavy mom responsibilities matters; I just see my head cooling off from unending responsibilities and feel alright. No matter how busy I am, I don't hesitate to clear my table upon hearing that there are parents' football events in my kids' school.
I have never once missed the termly football event organized by the school specifically for parents since 4 years ago when my kids joined their current school.
If there is something the owner of the school knows me for, then it is the fact that Mrs. Mba never misses parent vs. teacher football events organized every term, which is like 3-month intervals....
An activity that builds social connections for both parents and teachers and again encourages parents who are always busy with their jobs to come out and observe physical fitness at least once in a while.
Just give me space to run around the field, pursue the ball like my life depends on it, hahaha , scream on top of my voice for near goals , and feel alright. The fun is always so strong; the energy, the vibes, and all of that are super amazing.
I don't think other physical activities can give me the kind of happiness I usually derive from playing football. Even when my body feels tired, I see myself running, stretching myself, and aiming to score a goal. That's how much confidence football helps me boost, and whenever I score a goal, my confidence boosts higher and higher; it's a win-win.
I can't quantify the happiness, you know. Even a near-goal creates amazing happiness for my soul. 😄
I don’t play more often, but whenever I have the opportunity, just like the every-3-months football event in my kids’ school, I grab it and feel alright.
Even at home, I play with my boys; it's usually double fun. As casual as it seems to be, it attracts a unique joy that stays with me.
Overall, I love the way this physical activity clears my mind, lifts my mood, and strengthens me. At times, one finds happiness in simple things, and this is it for me.
