Hello everyone, how are you? I want to share that my family doesn't speak many regional languages, like Sundanese. I grew up in Bandung and should have mastered Sundanese as a first language. However, I learned Sundanese when I entered junior high school.
In elementary school, I only learned the Sundanese script and the local language was used only in the basics. After that, that was it. My school friends were friends from my neighborhood. So, there wasn't much Sundanese spoken. Moreover, even though I live in a village, Sundanese is rarely spoken.
Why do I want regional languages to be implemented at home? Because people who speak local languages from childhood, even from birth, are better able to manage their own emotions. Honestly, I still have difficulty managing my fluctuating emotions. In fact, a few months ago, I experienced severe depression.
Another thing I want to share is that preserving regional languages also means preserving culture. Sundanese is still widely used, but in Indonesia, especially among the younger generation, the use of regional languages is still minimal. Moreover, pure Sundanese.
When I grew up in Bandung and started networking, I discovered that the Sundanese spoken by the younger generation was very different. Sometimes, the language was a mix of Sundanese and Indonesian. Among adults, this might sound strange, but among the younger generation, it's quite common.
I also want to introduce Sundanese philosophy, where Sundanese women possess strong values and character. Sundanese women will strive for many things, but when their struggles are no longer appreciated, they simply leave and never return.
I want my daughters to have a strong Sundanese character and understand its meaning. Another thing is that I want my children to learn about art. Any art to express themselves. That's all I can tell you. See you later.
