The ladies of Hive have a nice community contest going! I figured I'd join in this time.
Because it's always fun to fantasize about what to do with a lot of money!
If I were to gain one million dollars, I would have about 865.000 euro's. I think the first thing I would do would be a very sensible thing: I would pay off my house. It would be great to get rid of that monthly mortgage payment. That would still leave me with a lot of money though! Part of which I would probably invest in stocks or something.
Another thing I would do is buy a new kitchen! Ours is very old and really needs replacing, but it is very expensive, especially while I'm not able to work. I would also have something done about our bathroom, because our shower floor is very inconvenient. There is no slight slant towards the drain and the drain itself is a little too high, so we always have a pool of water after taking a shower which is very hard to get rid of. Very frustrating to spend a lot of time trying to direct the water into the right direction after every shower. So, just some quality of life improvements!
Then, I would probably replace the roof of our house. It's the one thing that's not isolated properly and with a single story home, we lose a lot of warmth that way. But with such an amount of money, I would probably have them build in some airco and a good ventilation system aswell! See how far we can go to get this house off of gass, which is super expensive. So basically, just an investment to lower our monthly expenses.
Although... I could also just look for a new house! One close to forests would be amazing. I don't really like living amongst farmlands. Not enough actual nature. But it is nice and quiet here and houses are waaaay too expensive lately, so I doubt I'd find a perfect one even for that amount of money... Hmm... okay, so I'll redo our garden aswell. Bring in even more vegetation. Some nice, green trees...
After all of the above, our basic needs will be well met and our monthly expenses will have been brought down majorly. This would mean hubby can work for fewer hours, which is something I really want for him.
Once that is done, I might go the luxurious way and see if we can get a swimming pool build somewhere around the house! An inside one ofcourse, so I can use it in the winter aswell. One with jets, so it doesn't have to be long, but I can still do some active swimming. I love swimming, but I hate people around me and so I hardly go swimming. There's nothing in our town for it either. So my own, private little pool would be super awesome and healthy!
After that, I would treat my family to some nice gifts and a dinner or vacation or something like that. Maybe take a vacation ourselves aswell! Then see what's left for a donation to some kind of nature or animal group.
I think by then, most of the money would be gone... Well, it was fun while it lasted!
Our ladies of Hive would like me to invite another woman to join the club! I must say my socializing since I've been back has been severely lacking due to energy constraints. The ones I do know already know about the community! So I am simply not able to invite a specific person right now. Instead, whatever lady is reading this is welcome to check out the community if you don't know about it yet!
