Happy New Month to all women and ladies in the community. I have not been participating in the contest for a while now. Should I say there have been different posts to write on which makes me not create time for it. I am here today because this week's contest is interesting and I will be going for the first option.

I am among people who believes having your own garden is important and necessary, so as to save you from buying in the market, especially since most of them aren't freshly picked. If you own your own garden, you are very sure of eating fresh and natural vegetables and fruits.
This is our small garden in my hometown where we plant different fruits and vegetables. We have orange, cashew, lime, Okro, Jute Mallow which we call "Ewedu" in Yoruba language.
Grandma believes in getting fresh vegetables for her to eat and it's really working in her body system as she keeps getting fresh and beautiful every day.

This is a Lime tree but it hasn't grown yet. They just planted it a few months ago and according to them, it will take time before lime grows from the tree. Last year, we enjoyed lime as we used it for many things in the home, especially when my younger sister was sick, the lime was added to some herbs which she took and got recovered after a few days.

(This is Bitter Leaf tree)

Back to the question above, when I have my own garden, I would make sure to grow bitter leaf and vegetables in my little garden because these two are very important in preparing your meal to make you live a healthy life.
Bitter leaf works and it is very effective to the body and it is used for many things.
- To cure diabetes
- Serves as medicine to those who are sick
- It helps in reducing weight and reduces fat in your body when you drink bitter leaf juice.
- It reduces cancer risks
- It lowers blood pressure and so on.
I love adding bitter leaf to my vegetables and I would have boiled it to remove the bitterness in it so as to eat it very well. Vegetable soup is also very beneficial to the body as it gives us fresh skin when eaten every time and improves eyesight..
- Vegetable leaf (Spinach)
- Bitter Leaf
- Palm Oil
- Onions
- Maggi and Salt to taste
- Locust Beans (Iru)
- Cow's skin (Ponmo)
- Fish/Meat
- Crayfish
- Pepper
PROCEDURES IN COOKING THE SOUP
- Cut and slice your Spinach and bitter leaf separately. Wash with cold and hot water. Though not everyone washes with hot water, I prefer it. So, let's say it is optional for the spinach but to remove the bitterness from the bitter leaf, you must use hot water.
- Cut and slice your Cow's skin. Wash your fish or meat too and set aside
- Slice your onions and grate or grind your pepper.
- Wash your locust Beans very well.
- Boil your meat or fish
- Place your pot on the gas or stove to dry off the water in it.
- Add some little quantity of palm oil that would be enough and let it heat
- Pour your sliced onions and locust Beans together and stir.
- Pour the grinded pepper into the pot and keep stirring
- Add maggi and salt to taste
- Pour your Ponmo to cook together with it and cover it to cook for some minutes.
- Add the boiled meat or fish, then pour your crayfish too and cover again till it steams.
- Add your bitter leaf to boil for a few minutes. The last thing would be your spinach and leave for a few minutes to be soft.
Your vegetable soup with bitter leaf is ready to eat with any kind of solid meal but for me, I love to eat it with rice first.
