When I start to earn money on my blogging journey, I have this goal in mind that I always keep with me. I follow it most of the time, but of course, indulging oneself sometimes is not that bad. Sometimes, just sometimes, lol. And, I see to it that I just stay within my limit and no more than that. I mean, if I want to make progress, I know I have to follow this goal I set for myself. It's for my own good anyway. It's for my dream.
We're now on to 2023—another year, another set of goals. I already have goals, so achieving them is what I have to work on now. But there is one goal that is always present in my list of goals. And that is, to save more. Save and save and save; I want to see millions in my wallet, you see. I have already started saving since I joined blogging, and even if I am at a loss, I can still say that I still have savings.
I didn't put it in the bank or whatever; it is just in my digital wallet, where I am still trying to grow it. And to do that, I have to be consistent in my blogging journey. Why this and not a day job? Well, due to some reasons, I can't look for a real job right now, so I'll just try saving more through my blogging journey. I can still save enough thanks to this, so I plan to continue it. This will be a hell of a ride, for sure.
Anyways, because I have that goal, which is to save more, I learned how to budget the cash I have on hand. I just allotted a certain amount for this week or for this day, and it is up to me how I will use that for that whole duration of time. To be honest, doing this before was really easy for me, as I am used to having no money in my pocket or being on my mother's mercy before begging for a few coins to buy what I want.
But with the current situation, it is not that easy anymore. I could only think of some time when there's only a little money left in my wallet when, in fact, as I remember it, I have a few bucks in there. "Where did my money go?" "Ahh, wait, did I spend on something else? I can't remember anything!" These thoughts, and I can only just scratch my head because of how fast money can disappear now, like magic? Tsss.
I don't want to experience ever again that time where I didn't even have a piso in my pocket. Even a "sinkong duling," lol. That is why I have to watch my expenses carefully today. And I will start it with:
[1] Watch my expenses or every detail of it.
If I was so tight with my budget before, I would hold my pocket tighter and grip my hands tightly so I wouldn't touch the money I had in my pocket. I will only cash out some cash for my weekly allowance, or just like before, I can use my 500php ($10) for 10 days or more,
[2] No more online shopping for now.
Specially if it's wants than a need. I tend to spend sometimes without thinking too much because I badly want "this." So from now on, I will avoid that! With the current market situation for crypto, I can't afford to lose all of the little things I have in my wallet just because I act like a "One Day Millionaire."
[3] Avoid getting excited when the crypto pumps and pinch from it to convert.
This is a bad habit that I have. I mean, it's not bad, I know, it is a profit after all from the coins I am hodling, but it is not advisable right now to do that, especially since the crypto market is in a deep shit and still going down, and who knows when it will start to pump again. It is good if I get the profit and repurchase it, but no, I am spending it too, which I know now is bad. It is just for me, so I will avoid this too.
[4] Look for a cheaper data plan for my data consumption.
Last December 22, I spent 399, or $8, for my data consumption valid for 30 days or a month. I am not regretting it though, because originally, the price should have been $10, but because they had that 20% Christmas promo, I grabbed it. and I am enjoying it right now. I usually spend $6 for my data, and it is only that day that I indulge myself, and probably the last. I am planning to switch to another network where I can find a lot cheaper promotions using some tricks.
That's all for now; I know it can help me save more. And, I can focus more on spending just what we need rather than what I want. I am contributing now to the household for the whole family, so just to secure that and to continue doing that, I have to cut off those unnecessary things that I don't really need in my life. I don't want this beautiful money to completely disappear in front of my eyes. It is what I need; it is all we need to get everything done.
This is my entry for Ladies of Hive Contest #115 with the topic;
With Inflation hitting most countries, what plans have you made to keep within budgets? Are you armed with information before doing your grocery shopping, paying insurance bills, and utility bills? All is ever increasing, except earnings, where many obtain no inflationary increase — or worst still, not earning an income.
