Anyways, i really need to thank @Ifarmgirl for bringing such wonderful question,it is so much necessary to always think through all childhood memories and experiences. Here is my entry to the weekly contest.
How I wished I could turn back the hand of time, it definitely would have been better.
Oh just how I missed my teddy, my best friend. Don't think too far it was just a toy but not the normal kind of toy, it was a toy which eventually turned friend.
On the 18th Of March during an August visit my uncle bought me a pink teddy bear.
My Uncle, Tim has been in the U.S.A since he got married to his beautiful wife Cindy.
I had a liking for Cindy because we were virtually namesakes. She also liked me and we became best of friends.
After family lunch, uncle Tim announced that he was taking me out for sight seeing. Together with Aunt Cindy and Michelle their daughter, we got into dads car and off we went.
We visited many tourist centers even those I never knew existed. We bought ice cream at an ice-cream stand.
We also visited the Zoo. On arrival we were checked in and assigned with an officer. After taking a real long tour, the last place we visited before checking out was the space assigned to the bears.
The bears in there looked big and scary, so I screamed and ran into Aunt Cindy's arms crying. My uncle tried to console me to no avail.
He could have just stopped the tour but he went ahead and we visited A Shoperite.
This was a gigantic building. Out of fear I almost fell off the escalator.
We visited different part of the mall.
We visited a part allocated for toys only.
I saw large lions, tigers and other animals.
There was this pink baby bear that stood alone, the very first time I sighted it, I was In love with it. I liked it.
My uncle immediately saw the direction of my gaze, he asked me if I love the bear, but for the fear of the big bear I saw in the zoo I said, no.
My uncle knew that I loved it, so he took his time and explain to me that the bear we saw at the zoo was a bad and dirty bear, but this very one was a good and friendly bear.
Immediately he picked it and headed for the counter.
All along Aunt Cindy has been laughing at my childish behaviour even her little Michelle was not afraid of the bear instead she was all smiling with it. What a friendly baby though I was much older but I was not finding it funny.
After the payment we head to the Eatry part of the mall and ordered for chicken and barbecue.
Finally we all headed home.
It was really an amusing experience.
We got home and mum was like wow, after all the gift Uncle Tim and Aunt Cindy got for me from the state they still went ahead to get me a teady bear.
Mum was really happy. She told everyone that dinner was ready, after we ate dinner I ate the barbecue Uncle Tim bought for me. The night prayers were said and it was all a good night.
After a week Uncle Tim, Aunty Cindy and baby Michelle were set to leave. It was a sad moment though, I had gotten more close with aunty Cindy. We just had to say a good bye.
After the August visitors had left, I remembered I had a teddy bear. This was when the chronicles of the teddy bear started.
I had promised myself I was going to treat it like a friend.
I will wake up daily and bath it, using a dryer I will dry it clean. Then brush it hairy body.
I created a bed space for it in my room. Every where I went, it was always with me.
Once in the car, it also in the car putting on a seat belt.
While watching cartoon in the parlour, it just right beside me on the couch.
While sleeping, it always beside me on the bed.
This particular day mum had told me she was doing away with all my toys, I happily said yes to her and off I went to school.
I hid my teddy well because I don't take it to school. Returning home that very Tuesday I found out my teddy was missing.
I had to ask mum, if by any chance she has seen my teddy and her reply was yes. She had added it to the rest toys and she had burnt them in the incinerator.
I ran out to the incinerator, I found only ashes not even a trace of my teddy.
I cried for weeks, there was nothing my mum could do to stop me from crying.
She even asked me to get into the car so she could get me another teddy but I was not buying that idea.
That was how I lost my best friend forever not to be seen again.
Thanks for reading, much love ππ
