John C. Fremont was an American adventurer and statesman after whom Fremont Street was named. The Boulevard is among Sin City's oldest, having been named at the same time as Las Vegas was established in 1905. It wasn’t paved until 1925, and in 1931 it gained traffic signals.
Prior to gambling's legalization, the area saw a rise in the number of casinos that popped up on nearby streets. Eldorado Club, Golden Gate Hotel and Casino, Four Queens, Pioneer Club, Golden Nugget, Golden Nugget, Fremont Hotel and Casino, and The Mint are a few of them.
Fremont Street's western end was well-known. The neon signs that are synonymous with Las Vegas were vividly shown in this area with an abundance of sparkling lights. Because so many lights were installed in the area in 1937, the area came to be known as Glitter Gulch.
Fremont Street Experience “Glitter Gulch” (c.1999)
Located in downtown Las Vegas, also know as “Glitter Gulch” or the newly renamed Fremont Street Experience, this four block canopy is actually the largest lighted outdoor sign in the world.
The Fremont Street Experience's Viva Vision music light shows include a plethora of sparkling lights that sync to upbeat tunes by well-known musicians like Imagine Dragons and Shakira. At 1,375 feet long, 90 feet above the street, and 90 feet wide, the Viva Vision is the largest video screen in the world.
As a result of numerous TV series and motion pictures that portrayed the lively way of life in the area, Fremont Street rose to fame. Las Vegas might be said to have originated on Fremont Street.
From Main Street, head northwest or southeast to Fremont Street, which is between them. It has a variety of attractions, including free live performances and nightly light and sound events, and it takes up five blocks in the center of Downtown Casino Corridor.
Non-gamblers like myself may still enjoy the vibrant scenes by snapping amazing photos everywhere. The lights at the entrance exude both a sense of the present and a sense of the past.
