Dear Ladies of Hive, I am new in this community and find this week's contest Weekly Contest is very close to my heart. So, I'll pick item number Two to share my achievement which I am quite proud of myself.
I think all of us here in a way are blessed to be alive and kicking after what we have been through for the past two years when the Cov19 pandemic hit us in early 2020. It was a difficult year for our family, I lost three family members not because of Cov19 but due to accident, old age and another young niece to leukemia.
Like every countries, Malaysia has our own movement control order and we were not allow to move freely from one location to another. As my husband and I just acquired a farm in mid 2019, the farm is the best place for our hideout and our friends envy us because we get to run around freely.
We are new in the farming field and we take this opportunity to make friends with our neighbors to learn farming skills and tips from them. Most living here are elderly couples in their sixties and above. Their children has left home and mostly are not keen to be in this tough field. The elders here don't use smart phone and are not connected to online world. As such most of their fruits and harvest can't reach the consumers during the movement control order period. It is then I took an effort and help them to sell their harvest through online, published in my WhatsApp group community, Facebook group community and to our own local online platform.
I felt good and proud to be of a great help to the fellow senior farmers here and they really appreciate my work. Not only the fruits get to the consumers, the farmers here get to earn more because the harvest don't have to sell to middlemen traders at lower price and on top of that the fruit did not go to waste.
