LADIES OF HIVE COMMUNITY CONTEST
This was the first week of the contest, in each contest post they ask us to pick one out of three questions to answer in a post. The winner can earn a few HIVE. This week's questions were:
What was the last thing you used in the house?
Or
Where did you meet your significant other?
Or
If you would get 100 dollars now, what would be the first thing you would do with that amount?
THE QUESTION I"VE CHOSEN IS...
[Insert drum rolls here to build up excitement]
If you would get 100 dollars now, what would be the first thing you would do with that amount?
Although I've quit my (steady income) job a few days ago, I would not really spend it on myself in terms of buying things for me personally. Even though I know I will miss quite a decent amount of income (that came without too many hours of work), I know how to live from little money and therefore I know how to spend the incoming money in a way so that we won't have a shortage whenever we need to buy something. I wouldn't run to the clothing store to buy clothes or shoes. Those will be bought when I find them and because I need them as well.
It's not that I never spend money on myself because I think it's earned by me as well but usually, I bump into things for my daughter or boyfriend and think it fits them perfectly so I buy that for them. If I see something for myself, I either buy it right away or when it's too expensive to my liking (I love hunting for sales or go to thrift shops) I will think about it first. There's one exception and that's art supplies. These can be hard to find (talking about quality stuff here) so when I know I need something and see it somewhere, I will buy it instantly. I've learned that you shouldn't save on these, but buy the good stuff immediately (if possible because sometimes I just can't find them aargh).
ANSWER THE QUESTION, WOMAN :)
No fancy items, ok, art supplies only when you find them, alright. Stuff for the little lady or boyfriend? Well, no. If you ask me today, I would say that I'd invest it in something that I will benefit from myself, but not directly spend it on myself.
Are you following? lol.
This quote from the contest post sums it up a bit:
This is a contest from our community to you. Women empowering each other both on the blockchain and in discord. Contest post
Reading this part made me realize that I'm also empowering a woman that lives in a poor country where she'd make only 125 dollars a month normally for a fulltime job while she's a graphic designer. By hiring her for some tasks that she has experience in, I'm helping her to earn a decent income with a lot of fewer hours while she can also be at home with her daughter.
Graphic designers can earn quite a good income, but that's in those bigger wealthy countries usually. Unless you're well connected and living in a less wealthy country, of course, you can still make that happen. For example, this Virtual Assistant is smart, she's letting another company recruit her for clients, and this way she builds a portfolio. Everyone benefits from this currently.
As I quit my job, the retainer I've deposited for her work may not be refilled right away because I have to adapt for the next month at least. I was planning on hiring her for 10 hours a week first, but I've now reduced this to 5 hours max only, depending on my needs. If I'd find 100 dollars today, I'd instantly deposit it to my retainer for her work.
I'd be able to hire her for either two extra weeks (a little more) or give her some extra hours on top of the normal hired hours. I know I'm not obligated to hire her a certain amount of hours, but I feel kind of responsible for doing so as she's done such a great job and I do have plenty of tasks that she could help me with. After all, time is money!
So the conclusion is that I would indirectly be spending it on myself, as an investment for the future (to get some work done quicker), but directly get someone that needs the 100 dollars much more than me, to work for a little less than the minimum wage in her country.
She deserves it as she's not only very kind and talented but she also understood exactly what I needed right away and her samples were spot on. I only had her made a few adjustments but I was very satisfied with the work she had done. I'm happy to invest in her and making my work a little more efficient.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST
The lady I'm going to invite to the community is . I also sent her the Hive torch last week, but she isn't too active lately I've noticed and we met before life got busy. Still, she'd be a great asset to any community, as she rocks! So here it is, the invite to join this community. This lady is full of wisdom and I'd love for her to start spreading the wisdom in this community as well.
THE END. HOPE YOU ENJOYED IT.
HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND!
