In the past, when I was very young, I spent more time crying and blaming things when things out of our control came and hurt us. Of course crying is good, but, if we don't realise that besides crying, our body also needs a mechanism to heal, eventually the pain and grief in our mind will become something as dangerous as an atomic bomb.
So, from these things I began to know. I began to recognise myself more when I was hurting or feeling grief. Like most other people. The first thing I often do is. SLEEP.
1.SLEEP
For me, sleeping when I'm feeling emotional pain really helps me recover although of course it still takes time to fully recover. At the very least, with enough sleep, our bodies will be refreshed and our brains will think optimally. From here, the function of sleep is very useful, I can think more clearly after waking up. I can digest the situation, then I can find a better coping mechanism.
2.JOURNALING
This has been suggested by many psychologists. Writing can be a way to release negative emotions. Writing, especially with certain techniques such as writing down your frustration and then burning or tearing it up, can also be very helpful in reducing the frustration in your heart. Even bigger, things like trauma can also use journaling as a way. Since I've been in the habit of writing journals since I was a kid, and I've learnt that it's really good for my mental and emotional health, so I'm still very diligent about writing journals. Even with random themes.
3.DRAWING
My collection
Just like writing, drawing is also something I often do when... well my soul is not okay for a long time. For this one, it's an inheritance from my late father. I got into drawing (albeit not well) thanks to him. And as I grew up, I sort of got a precious gem that he left to me. It's like a tool that he left for me to use when I'm not okay.
Those are the things I used to do when emotional pain or grief came my way. Thanks to those things, I feel like I'm getting through a lot of bad things better. Thank you for presenting such an interesting prompt. I wish you happiness wherever you are. See you next post...!
Hi, I am the child of the universe, I like to read books with various genres. I was born in the city of batik but can't draw batik yet. I want to be a novelist, but my works are only short poems that are included in anthology books.
