I love dogs, and I think it's because I grew up with them. My father used to rear dogs in our compound, and I grew up surrounded by them. We mostly had female dogs, which would often give birth to litters of puppies. Since our dogs would have large litters, sometimes up to 15-25 puppies at a time, we would often give them away to other people.
I admire dogs for their friendly nature and ability to obey instructions. My dad would train them to always relieve themselves outside the compound, and they would learn quickly. Whenever they heard my mom's car horn, they would excitedly run outside, wagging their tails and jumping around.
One incident that I will not forget is when a snake wandered into our compound in the middle of the night. Our dog started barking loudly, alerting us to the snake. We were forced to get up and look around to why she is barking. The dog led the way, with my dad following the dog behind. Thanks to our dogs, we were able to locate and safely kill and remove the snake from our compound.
I've always loved dogs, and when my dad would sell the older ones, my siblings and I would always feel sad and beg him to keep them. If I were to have a pet, it would definitely be a dog. Dogs become part of the family when they stay with you for a long time. I especially love female dogs because they give birth to adorable puppies. I think it would be great to breed dogs and give some away as gifts or sell them, especially since dogs are now expensive these days.
