I have been thinking this week the wonderful question of Ladies of Hive in this week's contest:
Tuesday, March 8 is International Women's Day. This is a day where all women are celebrated. Is there any woman in your life whom you admire or feel impacted you; or any woman in general you feel contributed to the advancement of women? Give us two reasons why. The contribution to women can be either local or worldwide.
There are amazing women that came to my mind but I didn't feel like I wanted to talk about them in specific. Today I woke up and thought of my grandmother and then my mind flew to my female family line and my women. An endless line of women standing behind me, strong and proud.
Have you ever thought about your family line and how far back it goes? Well, it goes way back to the beginning which makes it quite clear that we are all one since the beginning of mankind.
Some of my women look healthy and in good shape. Others look tired, their wrinkles are so deep. Others are young and others old. But they are all there. Women of different eras, with different backgrounds and lives. I feel all of them did in life what they thought best to do. I don't need to admire them all. They are all part of who I am and have impacted literally every single cell of me. They are kind and less kind, generous and less generous, like we all are.
Some of them must have been important, but now they are all equal and I like to focus on those who were just simple everyday women, nothing special someone might say. These women gave birth, they tried to keep their kids alive and they made it through times and places where being a woman was a doom. And all these still happen and there are amazing women around the globe that will never be heard or read or admired, but still part of this human chain.
I saw a beautiful movie a few months ago and it came to mind as I am writing this post. The Patience Stone, a French-Afghan film that I absolutely recommend. An ode to the female strength and will, to the desire for life and freedom. The exposure of all secrets and shadows in order to feel free, the fight to remain true, authentic, kind and decent under the most difficult circumstances.
The movie is based on an old Persian legend.
According to Persian mythology, there is a magical black stone in which you can confess all your problems, worries, sins and secrets. The stone patiently listens and absorbs all the pain and in the end, when it is full, it explodes, setting free the confessor from the heaviness of the load that carries.
I hope that a time will come when women will celebrate every single day, that the load will be less heavy and the world more beautiful. Let's feel grateful for what all the wonderful women have achieved and are capable to achieve. They are our mothers, sisters and daughters, they are us.
I would like to invite to meet this beautiful community :)
