Life and death have been on my mind a lot these past few weeks.
On top of everything I have been through, personally. We are living during a time, where so many are obsessed with age, trying to freeze themselves in time and having this desire to live longer.
We have also reached a time in history, where a lot of money is spend on prolonging life. Which of course is needed, because so many of us, are not taking good care of our health, of our well being.
On top of that, the air we breathe is being polluted, along with the water. Our soils, are being poisoned, so that we can get greater harvests. It's like we don't actually know how to take care of ourselves, that we can't see the connection between our health and the health of the earth.
When I read one of the prompts from the latest Ladies of Hive Community Challenge, about Euthanasia, it brought up a lot of feelings for me. On the one hand, I really believe that we should be allowed to die when we want to, especially if we are suffering.
Even though life is sacred, it is something that we should honour. Honour by taking care of ourselves.
But these are strange times, where too many are living disconnected. They don't even feed themselves real food, instead eating only food by products.
Suffering, seems to be an almost accepted part, of daily life for many.
So I find it interesting, how we are now being presented with an opportunity to end life comfortably, instead of focusing more on promoting wellbeing.
Where health professionals, are creating these, supposed solutions, instead of empowering patients.
It has become, quite rare to hear of someone dying from natural causes these days, well lets be honest, these last few decades.
All I see, are ways to deal with the side effects of living in an unconnected way, instead vesting time and energy into improving the lives of one another.
Of course I don't want to see people suffer, no one should have to suffer. But this suffering is just going to continue, as long as we live the way we do.
I really believe we need to focus more on living, fully living. In transforming the lives of others, instead of just encouraging
lifestyles that are so destructive. But then we would have no need for pharmaceutical companies, if we didn't have sick people to keep them in business.
For too long now, the health of most people, has been controlled by the hands of a few, who make a lot of money out of keeping them sick and dependant. Which puts them on a very slippery slope, leading in one direction only.
Where so much money is being spend to keep people alive and now also to allow them to die.
What a crazy world we live in.
So this, is my response, to me it goes a lot deeper, then whether I agree with Euthanasia or not. I think we need to look at, why, it is even necessary.
