This past week, has been a hectic one. The truck moved to it's new spot on the land, but not without a few hiccups. I had problems starting her, I checked the batteries, but they had enough juice. Then I thought perhaps the fuel was not getting pumped through.
After speaking with a friend over the phone and with help from my neighbor, I decided to try and find the manual pump. Which would mean me having to tilt the cab which is always a big job, as I have things stored above the cab and they would need to be moved.
But, fortunately it didn't come to that. In the end, I discovered that one of the terminals, off one of the batteries (the truck is 24v so it has two 12v batteries in parallel), had melted. Which is quite worrying. Luckily it didn't start a fire.
But with the help of a mechanic friend, we got her started and moved. Then I had to move my outdoor kitchen and bath. Which was a bit of a job, as had to dismantle and then rebuild. But it was also a wonderful opportunity to really through what I have and get rid of what I am not using.
Just one day after I had managed to move most of my things, the rain began to fall. The heaviest Rainfall I have seen since I moved here. I am also more exposed where I am, so with the rain came the wind and my truck was rocking once again.
Yesterday, I was surrounded by water, as the land flooded, all around me. It was pretty stressful, to say the least and I was pretty exhausted after moving everything, the days leading up to it.
Today there was a Medieval Fair, but after the recent rainfall, many of the roads around this area where damaged and they was even a few mud slides, which made it impossible to pass through certain areas.
I awoke to a blue sky this morning, but it was very windy and cold. It took me a few hours, to find out if indeed, I would be able to make it to the fair. I had already booked a stall, so I was quite eager to go.
But as the morning proceeded, my eagerness waned. I was tired still and felt like just staying home, snug in my truck. But I had promised to share some Irish folk dancing.
Our Folk Dancing, can you spot me?
A very close friend of mine, who I see as family, is getting married in the new year. Both her and her partner, want to do some folk dancing on their day. They will share some dances they know and they had asked me to share any that I did.
Today we were going to have a trail run at the Fair. So I went and it was so worth it. Firstly, to actually get away from my home and have some time out. Secondly to catch up with friends and then thirdly to just let go and have some fun dancing.
It's crazy how reluctant we can be towards the very things that help us. But then, that's my lack of self worth, rearing it's ugly head up, once again.
The Temple
The fair was being held, beside one of my favourite spots in the area. The temple, where the alternative Midwifery School is. It is such a stunning natural building. That I helped to build, when I first arrived here.
It has been so wonderful, getting to see it transform and turn into such a beautiful space. We ended up doing the folk dancing in there and I just love to be in that space. Everything that I have attended, within there has been magical.
It was so much fun, learning the dances and showing the one that I knew. It was exactly what I needed, to let my hair down, to dance and play with my friends. And laugh, we all laughed much as we mixed up the steps and bumped into one another. The perfect way to end my hectic week.
