Good day beautiful ladies of LOH I'll be writing on the second question our friend asked . As a child while growing up I've always loved travelling home , even when I didn't know much about my culture and traditions, there's this joy that comes with going home during the festive season .
There are lots of person's to get acquainted with , especially people coming from different parts of the world just to experience what a village setting looks like . Just so you know, I come from Nigeria, the Eastern part of the country called "Abia State" , in this state I come from a local government called "Arochukwu" , if you're familiar with history then you must have heard about " Arochukwu kingdom" . It is indeed a beautiful place for anyone to be , environment is very serene and cozy but then during the festive/ holiday season it's always exceptional, we have lots of activities like going to the waterfall , watching the masquerades of different villages perform , age grade meetings and lots more .
Whenever I travel to my village there's always something new to capture my attention, did I forget to mention the football competition between villages with a prize attached to it ? Oh no , how could I ?
I love to travel home burning the holiday seasons cos it brings me close to my customs and traditions as a child of the soil. I get to learn more about the do's and dont's of my origin. It is good to know these things to avoid going on the wrong partner while trying to discover new places in the village .
However I get to make friends too. Some person's get lucky to meet their soulmates while enjoying the holiday season in the village , isn't that beautiful? It helps me also to familiarise with my kinsmen, know some of my uncle's who has lived all their lives in the village , know their kids too , even their wives .
The holiday season could be so fun in the village that we enter into the bushes to pick ripe fruits and other herbs , we could go in groups as it is always fun that way , going for morning swim with my age grades is always fun too as we play games inside the stream , you'll get to see some person's washing their clothes , even those fetching water , it is always a beautiful view to experience all of these .
Speaking about the events like the traditional marriages , church wedding and their doctrines, that's another exciting experience. It helps you to know how a woman is been married in my culture, how the bride price is been paid , items bought by the groom's family to complete the bride price list . I also get to see how she's been decorated like a proper Arochukwu bride , the cultural designs on her body just to show her origin , it's such an amazing experience to behold and be part of .
These are just a few things I enjoy during the festive season and yes i don't forget to vlog my experiences cos I love to watch them from time to time , just to memories alive .
Thanks for staying with me ❤️
