Howdy Ladies of Hive🤗! Welcome to my entry for LOH#252 contest where I will be answering the following question. Welcome to my blog😊.
1️⃣ If given a chance, what type of business would you like to put up, and why?
I haven't visited the community in a while, and I'm glad to come back to a question that resonates well with my wishful thinking. If given a chance, I'd put up a matatu business. A matatu is what we call the 14 passenger vans here.
Last week, Friday, as we walked home from work, I told a friend from work casually, "If only there were a matatu that carried short routes, it'd be a very splendid biz. Just imagine if we had a matatu and only asked for thirty shillings per trip within a certain circumference. Wouldn't it be a bang?"
It's an opportunity I have come to notice ebbed in the morning rush and the evening walks home. The matatus I see carry a longer distance with a price range of Kenyan shillings 150-350, but none carries within town where most people reside. Maybe it's because of the many bodabodas (motorbikes) that this county has and the tuktuks (tricycles). But still these forms of transport aren't pocket-friendly. The lowest price is fifty shillings, and that's the price to get to town. From town to residential areas, the prices pike up a notch to the lowest being a hundred shillings.
Why I say I'd put up a matatu business is because, unlike the bodabodas and the tuktuks, it will carry a lot more and, knowing my country well, these people love to abuse matatus, it can carry up to 18 passengers in a rush hour. This is because, if they could allow me to stand in the matatu, why would I wait to get late? Another reason is in terms of loading and offloading. There will always be a passenger getting out and there will be one waiting to get in.
I don't know why they don't have a matatu running short routes around town, but I think they need one to open their eyes. So, if I were given a chance, and by money herself, I'd set up a matatu business. Maybe one day, my wishful thinking won't just be a thought, but a matatu ride away.
Thank you for reading❤️.
