The Christmas and New Year holiday is over. It was a long and fun one spent with family and friends.
Good memories are to be created now that we can.
Wednesday, December 25th, looked like a Sunday, probably, because I went to church with my siblings. It was a fun-filled day. I didn't want to do much, but to spend time with family, cook and eat a delicious meal, video-chat with other family members who were absent and see movies together.

So, after I returned from church, it was already afternoon, around 2 pm, because we attended the last Holy Mass, which commenced at 10:30 am, and then went to a shopping mall to purchase some stuff, including baking ingredients.
I started preparing lunch when we arrived, and after having it, I rested for a while.
My siblings and I spoke with my parents over the phone, and had a video chat with my elder sister and her family. We chatted and laughed, and my nephews and niece had fun.
My sister was busy wrapping gifts for her children during the video chat, which they had no idea about. Haha
After that, I had to prepare dinner. My younger sister helped out with cutting the vegetables while I prepared the turkey and chicken. It was fried rice with turkey, fried plantain cubes and some veggies.
Then we had dinner while seeing the movie, "The Quiet Place" on Netflix. The movie was quite interesting, a horror film with a lot of suspense.
Christmas Day is best enjoyed with family and close friends, making good memories and reminiscing about the good times, sending out Christmas wishes to family, friends and having a good laugh. It strengthens the family bond, and distance can't be an obstacle.
The New Year always begins with so much excitement, expectations and positive vibes.
I began the New Year in church with my siblings. We left the house two hours before the end of 2025, attending Holy Mass and participating in other activities, singing, candle lighting and incense burning. At 12 am, the fireworks was lit in the church compound and it was fun to watch.

When I returned home, it was almost 2 am. I had enough sleep, which refuelled my strength for the day. I listened to some cool music and sang along in the morning, like it was my breakfast, haha.
So, we had delicious meals for lunch and dinner. I made a sandwich toast for lunch while one of my brothers made dinner, spicy jollof spaghetti. You can view them here.
I communicated with absent family members and some friends, and we laughed over the phone.
What will Christmas and New Year be like without having some traditional fruit cakes?
So, I baked some in loaf pans and also a few banana loaf cakes and distributed some of them as gifts. Everyone who received and tasted it had a good review. I baked them with love and my special flavours, and my secret ingredient.
The cake was moist, yummy, moderately sweet and irresistible. My mum had to call me to give a review about it and make an order for her birthday cake, which will be later this month.
Coincidentally, I thought about surprising her with a traditional fruit cake and the possibility of carrying out this plan for her birthday before she called me. She always enjoys my fruit cakes; in fact, everyone does.
The first day of the year came to a close peacefully with joy in my heart, being grateful for everything and what lies ahead. I relaxed on the couch, feeling the cosiness of the atmosphere until it was time to retire to bed.
Now, what was your experience like? In doors or outdoors?
Cheers. 🥂
