Online shopping can be a good and bad thing. Many people have their own experiences just like I do mine.
Before I carry out certain actions, I usually do some research, especially if the actions are money related. Then came online shopping. People around usually purchased their goods online . Their feedback was very positive and encouraging and so I decided to give it a try too.
That time, I had this passion for photography and I wanted to enhance my picture quality. I was into macro photography which needs a lot of expertise and tools to get the perfect picture.
Judging from the feedback one of my friends gave, I just hurried online, searched for a macro lens and clicked to purchase. Usually, online products take some time to reach the final location and so I agreed to wait.
It was to take a month. "I would wait for a month to get a tool that would be useful for many months? Sounds like a fair deal" I thought.
I used my bank card to do the transaction and it was verified. My countdown began. This purchase was done in August so I was expecting my delivery by September.
Days turned to weeks and my blood kept pumping in excitement. I just felt very happy that I would get what I want soon!
September came and I went to check on my delivery. Nothing. No notification, no sign of arrival.
"Maybe the delivery got delayed" I said to myself. I decided to give them an extra week. The next week got so tight. My schedule was choking and I barely had time to remember my order.
Few weeks after that, I saw an insect that looked picture worthy. I took a shot of it and I didn't get what I wanted. That's when it clicked that I had a delivery to pick up.
I went to check on the delivery and still, nothing. I checked my mails and nothing. I was worried.
"Did the ship transporting my macro lens sink? Why would they take so long?" Many questions kept running through my mind.
I decided to take to their customer care service and that was the most annoying part. I went on the app and dropped my complaints.
The response I got swept me off my feet.
" Madam! If you ordered for this good then it must have gotten to you. Don't blame us for your carelessness" they responded. I was really mesmerized by that response. It was like an indirect "fck off! (no) thanks for shopping with us"*
At that point, I didn't know whether to scream or cry. It was funny and at the same time not funny. I let it go and swore never to partake in such risky deals again. I probably should have clicked on the 'pay after delivery' button and not the 'pay before delivery' button.
Since that experience, whenever I'm looking at online goods, I do that for admiration and just admiration. I can't allow myself to be taught the same lesson twice.
So to answer the question, I'd say that I once admired people who shopped online and decided to try and it didn't end well. In conclusion, I don't shop online anymore for the time being.
I'd like for ,
and
to join in the fun. I bet they'd have interesting stories to give too.
With love, wongi ✨
