Perfect things do exist. It may never be the people we have in our quiet corners or the jobs we always dreamt of having, but it could be in the beautiful way we start our mornings or the natural ornaments that beautify our environment.
However, I would love to see perfection after noon. The type that exists within my own productive space where I don't get to see the dresses of petty traders get soaked with sweat while they try to catch a bus in hopes of selling to passengers, or those offices where corporate staff work without air conditioners. I'm talking about perfection that evolves into a sweet, calm routine.
One thing I love doing, is working remotely in the afternoon. I enjoy joining meetings around this time, reading, researching, and watching movies, in fact I love being productive during this period of the day. But my limitations are often the noise from my neighbourhood, poor power supply, and if you live in a country like mine, then you already know the next problem is terrible internet. The hot weather is something else entirely.
So if you asked me, this is what my perfect afternoon would look exactly like:
Me sitting in a clean, comfortable workstation in my air conditioned room. The environment is quiet, serene, and full of hope. I have my laptop turned on for either work or online learning, with a cup of ice cream by my side. Never mind the brain freeze effect. I also imagine that the internet operates at the highest speed, allowing me to browse freely and connect to calls without interruption. The power supply is stable, there is a bottle of water nearby, and at least one fruit sits on my table for hydration and to supply my body with vitamins. Lastly, a perfect afternoon for me, is one where a balanced meal like fried rice, coleslaw, and peppered meat is available to keep my energy up.
On the days where I will not have ice cream, I would opt for coffee. To be honest, I rarely take coffee because it contains caffeine which acts as a stimulant, and that is something I consider unhealthy for my menstrual health, but I must admit that I love it.
There's just something about the taste that feels like wealth and comfort. The brown liquid sitting in the cup, the richness in every sip, and the aroma that travels across the room for a moment. And the fact that it occasionally keeps me awake and active. Chef's kiss.
I prefer the 3 in 1 coffee that already contains milk and sugar so I never have to worry about adding anything except hot water and stirring with a spoon until my desired texture is achieved. I also love it served in a mug that's placed on a small tray.
I think having all these would make a perfect afternoon for me, and I hope this reality is something I get to experience constantly and conveniently in the future.
