Hello my dear Ladies of Hive friends, I hope you are having a wonderful day and a more than great week.
Responding to the kind invitation of my very dear this is my entry to LOH contest 122, a response to the question asked by our questionnaire for this week
Why do you think society places such a high value on beauty
when it serves no functional purpose?
I will say beauty is a measure, we naturally move towards beautiful things unconsciously.
Society places a high value on beauty because it is seen as a sign of success and social status. In many cultures, beauty is seen as a sign of power, wealth, and influence. For example, throughout history, beautiful people have been given more attention, respect, and admiration than those who are not considered conventionally attractive. This is why people often strive to look their best and why they may invest time and money into their appearance.
On a practical level, beauty can also increase job opportunities and social standing. From a financial perspective, beautiful people often get better wages and job offers than their less attractive counterparts. As a result, people tend to maintain their good looks in order to stay competitive in the job market even when professionalism should come first
Looking from a psychological perspective, beauty is also linked to self-confidence, self-esteem, and self-worth. People who are considered attractive tend to have higher self-esteem, which leads to greater success in their life and career. Moreover, attractive people are often seen as more desirable partners and are more likely to get into relationships.
Beauty can be vain but society has come to associate beauty with success, wealth, power and influence like a web.
For some, beauty is often associated with youth, health, and vitality. This is why people often strive to look younger, healthier, and more vibrant. In many cultures appearance is seen as a sign of health and fertility, which is why people may invest in expensive beauty treatments.
Ultimately, beauty is seen as a sign of status and success, and is linked to psychological and practical benefits. As a result, society places a high value on beauty, even though it serves no functional purpose.
But I'll say, beauty is flawed without true character,
because bad character can make one's beauty look ugly.
We are in a time and age where people think they can get what they want by their looks, whilst it is true in some cases, it can only be preserved by the character.
Even while we judge society for defining and segregating beauty, it's also not a bad idea to look beautiful, it's also not a bad idea to use it to our advantage.
Because looking beautiful attracts a lot of beautiful things to our life
