Greetings everyone and how is your weekend going.
It gladens my heart to know that everyone is fine.
Today on ladies of hive community I want to present to everyone a very nutritious insect or big maggot that I tasted for the first time on December 😊.
It sounds funny right?
But is true, I had a taste of something
that looks like maggot, not just little maggot not big ones,
People in this area calls it eruru but when I search for the English name I discovered that every state in my country has different names for it but the name that cut my attention is bayelsa suya but the overall English name is the palm tree beetle larvae
eating the eruru
I was told by the villagers about how nutritious the palm tree beetle larvae is,
An old man told me that it can be given to a little baby of about a month or two raw without cooking it because of its nutritional value,
Some of it's nutritional value is that it is very proteinous and also has some minerals in it.
It is gotten from any fallen and delayed palm wine or palm fruit tree
At first I couldn't believe what am seeing because it was my first time but people around me was even eating it raw and sucking the white substance that was coming out of it,
The experience at first was aweful but I had to taste it.
I was pushed to taste it because of the way people around me was eating it both raw and cook as if they have been longing and craving for it but all I can say is that it tastes nice.
people gathered for the sharing of the eruru>
As I earlier said it can be eaten either raw or cooked.
The cooking procedure is very simple and easy, you just have to use the following>

And lastly the special eruru which is the main meat.
ProceduresYou just have to add your red oil or groundnut oil to the pot and allow it to get hot
Add your onions, salt and maggi to the pot and stir for so time not less than 5seconds
Transfer the eruru (palm tree beetle larvae) to it and stir for some time like 2minutes or More depending on the quantity
