Dayax began to stomp over to my sister and Rage, and the speaker lady ran out of the arena.
I gripped the arm rests of my seat, getting ready to stand up, “She can’t be in there. She can’t fight a thirty-foot monster.”
In the arena, Sunny stayed calm. She raised her bow, aimed at the slow-walking Mr. Dayax, and shot a blue arrow at his chest. It began to freeze the area around his chest and he bellowed a bellow that sounded like a cross between a bear and a bull.
“YOU’LL PAY FOR THIS LITTLE ROACH!” Dayax bellowed and started to charge at my sister.
My heart spead up.
“Oh no ya’ don’t stupid beast!” Rage yelled and jumped on one of the red squares in the arena. It lifted him thirty feet into the air, he shot a shotgun bullet at Dayax’s back, then shot another on his way down where he landed swiftly in his airy boots.
“ACK! YOU WANNA DO THIS NONSENSE TOO?” Dayax roared, and turned and headed in Rage's direction.
That’s when Sunny changed her position on the field. She went from being behind Dayax to the side of him. She looked ahead of Dayax and took out a huge arrow. I could tell it was heavy because she fumbled with it a little before she was able to lift it into place at the belly of the bow. Then she pulled it back, sat as still as she could with the heavy thing, then let it go.
It flew into the sky and then like a missile, headed straight into the ground in front of where Dayax was charging and made it’s own little explosion that sent a rush of cool air as high as the people above me and Fog where sitting.
It felt like I was in a freezer for a second. Even Fog’s “woah” of the sudden rush of cold was audible.
“WWOOOOOOOOOOO!” I heard someone cheer. I turned to my left some seats below me and there was Surya, yelling her lungs out for my sister’s work. I felt a smile form on my face. I was proud of Sunny.
The arrow she had shot froze the floor in front of Dayax, so that when he got there, he slipped and fell to the ground, giving a great thump that shook me in my seat even from way up where I was sitting.
Everyone began to clap and cheer. Even I began to yell my encouragement. (GO SUNNY! YOU ROCK!)
Sunny was staring a whole through Dayax, but a smile formed on her lips.
Rage quickly ran up Dayax’s body and shot him in the head. Unlike the fatal bullets I thought that lie in the barrel of the shotgun, Rage’s shotgun bullets were silver and when they hit, they dissolved into grey dust.
“GAH! ACHOO!” Dayax sneezed at the dust and began to get up.
“He’s getting up! Quick! Aim low!” Rage told Sunny, and she nodded at him.
Sunny then pointed her bow low at the monster’s feet, and then shot at his leg.
The bow froze Dayax’s foot to the ground upon impact.
“OH! YOU TWO ARE GETTING VERY ANNOYING. I WON’T GO SO EASY ON Y’ALL ANYMORE!” Dayax bellowed, and started to stretch his leg to try and get it out of the ice, but to no avail.
Sunny aimed a bow at his other foot this time and froze his left foot. Dayax was getting frustrated, and with his sharp claws he swung at Rage without thought, just trying to release his anger of being beat.
Rage dogged as best he could, but one time Dayax got him and he was left with a tear through his shirt. Luckily, I could see no blood, but Rage backed up quickly away from Dayax, and was breathing hard.
Dayax then yanked his left leg harder than before and finally broke free of the ice. He did the same with his right, but this time his leg jolted back as he broke free, clashing into Sunny, who was right behind him. She went flying back across the arena, arms and legs stuck hanging in front of her from the impact. She crashed into an area gate that made a loud CHING noise on impact.
“OOOOOOOOOOHHHH” the crowd went as both Rage and Sunny seemed to be down. But all that did was increase my heart rate. I stood up.
“No! Sunny!” I yelled. “We have to help her!”
Fog then stood up with me, and then we began squeezing between people and the next row of chairs to get to the stairs that went down to the arena.
“Hey you can’t just go down there!” someone yelled.
“Yeah, it’s gettin’ good!” one guy who looked my age yelled.
“ ‘Getting good’ is innocent people getting hurt? Shut up!” I yelled back to the guy.
“Well, they signed up for this,” he mumbled, And that comment got me thinking; Sunny signed up for this!?
Fog and I finally got to the arena grounds and walked around to the ring entrance where two guards stood.
“You sure you really wanna go in there?” one asked.
“Yes, my sister’s in there!” I told them.
“Okay, we warned you.” the other said, and he opened the gates and let us in.
In the arena, I saw Rage shooting at one of Dayax’s arms, which was able to move less and less with the impact of each silver bullet.
“GOSH, NOW MY ARM IS NUMB YOU DIMWIT,” Dayax bellowed and used his other hand to try and claw at the ground where Rage stood. Luckily, Rage ran out of the way.
Dayax was weak. I could help defeat him. I tried to summon a ball of ice with my bracelets. Instead, the bracelets glowed orange and I got a fire ball instead. It was super hot, and it felt like I had opened an oven and put my hands near it. I quickly threw it at Dayax. Bullseye! It hit him straight in the chest!
After My act of combat, Fog got to it. He began to swing at the beast's hands with his sword. Dayax then swung straight for Fog, and that’s when Fog sliced Dayax, leaving a wound on one of his sizable fingers.
While Dayax bellowed in pain, I turned to Rage. “Where’s Sunny?”
“Who’s Sunny?” asked Rage
“The girl you’re fighting with! She’s my sister!”
“Oh, you mean Frosta? She’s right over there.” He pointed to Sunny all the way at the gates at the other side of the arena, breathing hard and sweating. “She took a big hit, so I’d suspect she’s resting up. Good thing Dayax is getting a bit weak, or I don’t think she’d make it through the round, and I don’t think I can beat this guy alone.”
“Thank you,” I said to Rage, then I began running to the other side of the arena towards Sunny.
As I approached, a face of confusion came over Sunny’s face. That made me worried. What if she had gotten brain damage and didn’t recognize me?
“Sunny! You know who I am right?”
“Mist? What are you doing here?” Sunny’s face went from incertitude to anger. “How did you find this place?”
“I followed you! Now it’s my turn to ask questions! Who the heck gave you the bright idea to enter a fighting arena with an evil, dangerous man?”
“I had the idea myself. Sis, I’ve done this a million times before.” Sunny told me, but her eyes looked past me to Dayax. “I’m not gonna die to this guy. Plus, it’s fun!”
“Fun to what!?”
“Fun to beat up people.” She caught me looking at her horridly. “I mean evil people.” she added quickly. “Look, this guy hurt tons of people with his ‘brain SD cards’ or whatever. Isn’t it fair that we give him payback?”
I didn’t answer.
“Okay look, we need to find a way to keep him still so we can beat him. I’m going to shoot the ground again with my ice crossbow and freeze his feat.”
“1, that’s a bow and arrow, not a crossbow, and 2, no you’re not doing that again. You almost got killed doing that the last time.” I told my little sister.
“Well, we can’t leave the arena without beating him, so you got a better idea?”
“Actually, I do.” I smiled.
