Getting to Boston Logan was easy—my departure was not.
My Boston Logan (BOS) flight to London Heathrow (LHR) queued for 30 minutes to get "the treatment," that is, get weather treated for leaving on this very cold damp January 18th night. The de-icing took another hour. As a result, we lost our takeoff spot.
Once on our journey, progress reports from the flight deck gave an estimated arrival 45 minutes behind schedule. Rut roh! My next flight to Manchester may leave without me. I tried not to be concerned and get some rest. Ha! No sleep for me.
As predicted, the 45 minute delayed arrival was exactly correct. What can you do? Just get your bag from the overhead bin and disembark, right? Well, Mr. First Class blocked my retrieving my bag. I said, "excuse me, just a sec." He wouldn't move. "Please, I need to grab my bag."
Instead of backing up a step, he pushed me aside and snugged up closer to the much more polite lady ahead of him who was awaiting the aircraft door to open. Mind you, everyone gets stressed when trying to make a connection from a later than expected arrival, but really?

Eventually all the passengers cleared off and collectively we got the info that the Heathrow Terminal 5 trains were down. All of them. I laughed! I thought, "now, isn't that Karma? Mr. First Class muscled past a solo women traveler and a lot of good it did him. He has a 20 minute walk to deal with just like the rest of us." I smiled and decided to enjoy my long walk to the connecting gates.
As I approached UK Border Control, I stopped of at the British Airways desk to shed some light on my next flight details. Turns out, my next delay is...5 hours! On the up side, I do enjoy time in the BA Lounge. Upon check-in, I booked a private bathroom and took a long shower, selecting from the preferred Hansgrohe Shower System RainDance heads.💦
Feeling much more refreshed, I toured the expanse of seating options across the Club World BA Lounge. I was willing to give up a little quiet to get a good view of the planes. I found an club seat (photo above) with a set with pony-wall surround that was perfect for privacy I needed to relax and power up my 19 HIVE for 19 January.
From my club chair I see how the British Airways architectural designers have a knack of how to push their products. The panoramic view features a medley of aircraft, namely the Airbus A320s, the Boeing 777s, and the 787-Dreamliners.
Watching the rhythm of the planes come and go was a lovely backdrop to writing, but the WiFi wasn't man enough to upload my images to Hive, so I found another vignette to set up as my glam little office on-the-go. The view below shows some of the wines on offer at the bar.
Indeed, this made for a cozy work station, but I was stunned to check the flight monitor to see it was already time to head over to the A Gates to board my flight to Manchester (MAN). Like, where did the last four hours go??
With my TravelPro roller board carry-on bag in tow, I stop for this long view of the pick wines and bubblies. I think about Mr. First Class and what he may be doing at this moment. Whatever it is, I bet he's not having much fun. He can leave it with me, LOL!
It's not that the travel woes don't effect me. They can. They do. But sometimes the blessings of St. Christopher can change one's outlook along the way, particularly if one is game to stop and sip the rosés. 🥂
Much love! 🥰
