🌙 Happy Mid-Autumn Festival! 月圆人团圆 🌕
Last Tuesday 6 October was not Taco Tuesday …over Asia it was the Mid-Autumn Festival, that night, under the brightest full moon of the year, families across China and beyond gather to celebrate Zhongqiu Jie — 中秋节 — a time of gratitude, reunion, and sweet traditions.
🍂 Why they Celebrate
Rooted in ancient harvest rituals over 3,000 years ago, this festival honors the bounty of autumn — when fields are golden, fruits are ripe, and nature’s generosity is at its peak. People once offered food to the moon goddess Chang’e, thanking her for fertility and abundance.
So, today, they still honor that spirit — with mooncakes, lanterns, and laughter around the table.
🥮 The Symbolism of Food
As in many cultures, celebrations are presentado throught the food, here we have Moon-cakes.
Mooncakes — round like the moon, filled with sweetness, symbolizing family unity and prosperity.
Fruits like pomelos & persimmons — seasonal gifts from the earth, representing good fortune and completeness.
- That little “福” (fú) character stamped on your mooncake? It means “blessing” — a wish for happiness and luck for you and your loved ones.
💖 More Than Just a Feast
It’s about:
Reunion — no matter how far apart, we gaze at the same moon.
Gratitude — for harvests, health, and each other.
Tradition — passing down stories of Chang’e, Wu Gang, and the Jade Rabbit to new generations.
And yes — those red roses in the picture? A modern touch, blending romance and love into an ancient celebration of togetherness. ❤️
📸 Share Your Moon!
Whether you’re sharing mooncakes with family, lighting lanterns with friends, or just admiring the moon alone — take a moment to pause, reflect, and give thanks.
👉 Tag someone you miss… or someone you’re grateful to have near.
✨ Wishing you a Mid-Autumn Festival filled with warmth, joy, and the sweetest blessings under the full moon.
