While I was cruising on a boat on the Ganges River in Varanasi, India, the sun was setting in the western sky and the clouds were gathering. As the evening sun set, I began to see smoke rising from the banks of the Ganges. As I watched, I saw a large crowd of people, along with the smoke and flames. I asked someone who knew what they were doing, and to my surprise, they were burning dead bodies. I also learned that this is a Hindu tradition.
This week I would like to share with you a little bit about a tradition in India. This is a Hindu tradition. I took this photo from a distance while taking a boat ride on the Ganges River. The scene in this photo is a strange and frightening sight not only for me but for many others, but for Hindus, this sight is considered the path to the ultimate peace of life. They might think it is also a joyous one.
The Hindu cremation of the dead on the banks of the Ganges River in Varanasi, India, has been going on for centuries. Why do they cremate their dead on the banks of the beautiful river, when they are not buried anywhere else? According to Hindu beliefs, Varanasi is the city of Lord Shiva. Those who die in Varanasi are believed to have been liberated from reincarnation and have reached a peaceful state of Nirvana(Moksha). They are believed to be free from reincarnation and will never be reborn again. That is why the cremation of the dead is done on the banks of the Ganges River.
I will continue writing with my own handwriting. I have never seen or heard of such an experience, so I will write in a row. It is also said that when cremating a dead body, it is done systematically. It is done according to the religious customs of Hindus. The body of the deceased is wrapped in white or colorful clothes and washed for the last time with the water of the Ganges River. A lot of firewood is also piled up. The amount of firewood is hundreds of kilograms. Rich people use fragrant sandalwood and incense. The head of the family or his son, shaved, wears a clean white cloth, takes the fire from the sacred pyre and starts burning the body. The ashes left after the burning are floated in the Ganges River.
There are also some things that are not allowed in this tradition. Traditionally, women are not allowed to enter the cremation ground. When I asked why, most of the women cried and cried. This crying and crying disturbs the peace of the deceased soul. That is why women are not allowed to enter the cremation ground. I also learned that there are also bodies that cannot be cremated. I also learned that the bodies of children, pregnant women, people who died after snakebite and people in the religious community (Sadhus) are not cremated but are floated directly in the Ganges. That is all I have learned from my research. I would be very happy if you also gained a little knowledge from my sharing.
အိန္ဒိယနိုင်ငံ၊ ဗာရာဏသီမြို့ရဲ့ ဂင်္ဂါမြစ်အတွင်း စက်လှေစီးရင်း လှည့်လည်ကြည့်ရှုနေချိန်က နေလုံးကြီးက အနောက်ဖက်ေကာင်းကင်မှာ ကွယ်ပျောက်ကာနီးအချိန်ဖြစ်သလို မိုးတိမ်တွေက အုံ့ဆိုင်းနေပါတယ်။ ဒီလိုညနေ နေဝင်ချိန်မှာ ဂင်္ဂါမြစ်ကမ်းဘေးက မီးခိုးတွေကို စပြီးမြင်လိုက်ရတယ်။ ကြည့်နေရင်းနဲ့ မီးခိုးများအပြင် မီးတောက်များနဲ့အတူ လူအများစုကိုမြင်လိုက်ရပါတယ်။ ဘာတွေလုပ်နေကြမှန်းမသိလို့ နားလည်သူကိုမေးကြည့်တဲ့အခါ လူသေအလောင်းတွေကို မီးရှို့နေကြတာဖြစ်ကြောင်း အံ့ဩဖွယ်သိလိုက်ရပါတယ်။ ဒါဟာ ဟိန္ဒူဘာသာဝင်တို့ရဲ့ ဓလေ့ထုံးတမ်းအစဉ်အလာတစ်ခုဖြစ်ကြောင်းလည်း သိလိုက်ရပါတယ်။
ဒီတပတ်မှာတော့ အိန္ဒိယနိုင်ငံမှာရှိတဲ့ ဓလေ့ထုံးတမ်းအစဉ်အလာတစ်ခုကိုကျွန်တော်သိရသလောက်မျှဝေပေးချင်ပါတယ်။ ဒါက ဟိန္ဒူဘာသာဝင်တို့ရဲ့ ဓလေ့ထုံးတမ်းအစဉ်အလာဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ ဂင်္ဂါမြစ်အတွင်း စက်လှေနဲ့ လှည့်လည်ကြည့်ရှုရင်းနဲ့ အဝေးကနေရိုက်ယူခဲ့တဲ့ဓာတ်ပုံဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ အခုဓာတ်ပုံထဲကမြင်ကွင်းက ကျွန်တော့အတွက်သာမက အခြားသောသူတွေအတွက် ထူးဆန်းတဲ့မြင်ကွင်းမျိုး၊ ထိတ်လန့်စရာကောင်းတဲ့မြင်ကွင်းမျိုးဖြစ်ပေမယ့် ဟိန္ဒူဘာသာဝင်များအတွက်ကတော့ ဒီမြင်ကွင်းက လူ့ဘဝရဲ့ နောက်ဆုံးငြိမ်းချမ်းခြင်းဆီကိုသွားတဲ့လမ်းလို့ မြင်ကွင်းလို့ဆိုပါတယ်။ ကြည်နူးစရာတစ်ခုလို့လည်း ထင်ကောင်းထင်နိုင်ပါတယ်။
အိန္ဒိယနိုင်ငံ၊ ဗာရာဏသီမြို့က မြစ်ကမ်းဘေးမှာ ပြုလုပ်တဲ့ ဟိန္ဒူဘာသာဝင်တို့ရဲ့ လူသေအလောင်းတွေကို မီးရှို့တဲ့ဓလေ့ဟာ လွန်ခဲ့သောနှစ်ပေါင်းများစွာက ပြုလုပ်ခဲ့ကြတာဖြစ်ကြောင်းသိခဲ့ရပါတယ်။ လူသေအလောင်းတွေကို အခြားနေရာမှာ မီူမရှို့ကြပဲ ဒီလို သာယာလှပတဲ့ မြစ်ကမ်းဘေးမှာ ဘာ့ကြောင့်ပြုလုပ်ကြတာလဲလို့မေးကြည့်မိပါတယ်။ ဟိန္ဒူဘာသာဝင်တို့ရဲ့အယူအဆအရ ဗာရာဏသီမြို့က သီဝနတ်မင်းကြီးရဲ့မြို့ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ ဗာရာဏသီမှာ သေဆုံးသွားခဲ့ကြတဲ့သူတွေဟာ ဂင်္ဂါမြစ်ကမ်းဘေးမှာ မီးရှို့သင်္ဂြိုဟ်ခံရရင် သံသရာကနေလွတ်မြောက်ပြီး ငြိမ်းချမ်းတဲ့ နိဗ္ဗာန်((Moksha) ကိုရောက်ရှိတယ်လို့ ယူဆကြပါတယ်။ နောက်ထပ်တဖန်ပြန်လည်မွေးဖွားခြင်းမရှိတော့ပဲ ထာဝရငြိမ်းချမ်းရေးကိုရရှိတယ်လို့ ယူဆကြပါတယ်။ ဒါကြောင့် ဂင်္ဂါမြစ်ကမ်းဘေးမှာ လူသေတွေကို မီးရှို့ကြခြင်းဖြစ်ကြောင်းသိရပါတယ်။
ရေးလက်စနဲ့ ဆက်ပြီးရေးလိုက်ပါအုံးမယ်။ ဒီလိုအတွေ့အကြုံမျိုးကို မမြင်ဘူး မတွေ့ဘူးခဲ့လို့ တဆက်တည်းရေးသားချင်ပါတယ်။ လူသေအလောင်းတွေကို မီးရှို့တဲ့အခါမှာ စနစ်တကျပြုလုပ်ကြတယ်လို့လည်းသိရပါတယ်။ ဟိန္ဒူဘာသာဝင်တို့ရဲ့ ဘာသာရေးထုံးစံတွေအတိုင်း ဆောင်ရွက်ကြရပါတယ်။ သေဆုံးသူရဲ့ ရုပ်အလောင်းကို အဝတ်ဖြူ ဒါမှမဟုတ် အရောင်သွေးစုံလင်တဲ့ အဝတ်တွေနဲ့ ပတ်ပြီး ဂင်္ဂါမြစ်ရေနဲ့ နောက်ဆုံးအကြိမ်အဖြစ် ဆေးကြောသန့်စင်ပါတယ်။ ထင်းတွေကိုလည်းအများအပြားစုပုံထားပါတယ်။ ထင်းဘယ်လောက်များသလဲဆိုရင် ကီလိုဂရမ် ရာပေါင်းများစွာရှိတယ်လို့သိရပါတယ်။ ချမ်းသာတဲ့လူတွေကတော့ အနံ့မွှေးကြိုင်တဲ့ စန္ဒကူးသား၊ နံ့သာသားတွေကို ထည့်သွင်းအသုံးပြုကြပါတယ်။ အိမ်ထောင်ဦးစီး ဒါမှမဟုတ် သားဖြစ်သူက ခေါင်းတုံးတုံး၊ စင်ကြယ်တဲ့ အဝတ်ဖြူကိုဝတ်ဆင်ပြီး မြင့်မြတ်တဲ့မီးကြွင်းကနေ မီးကိုယူပြီး ရုပ်အလောင်းကို စတင်မီးရှို့ကြရပါတယ်။ မီးလောင်ပြီး ကျန်ရစ်တဲ့ အရိုးပြာတွေကိုတော့ ဂင်္ဂါမြစ်ထဲကို မျှောကြပါတယ်။
ဒီဓလေ့ထုံတမ်းအစဉ်အလာမှာ မပြုလုပ်ရတဲ့အချက်တွေလည်းရှိကြောင်းသိရပါတယ်။ ရှေးရိုးအစဉ်အလာအရ မီးသင်္ဂြိုဟ်တဲ့နေရာကို အမျိုးသမီးတွေ လာရောက်ခွင့်မပြုကြပါဘူး။ ဘာ့ကြောင့်လဲလို့မေးကြည့်တဲ့အခါ အမျိုးသမီးအများစုက အော်ဟစ်ငိုကြွေးတတ်ကြပါတယ်။ ဒီလိုအော်ဟစ်ငိုကြွေးခြင်းကြောင့် သေဆုံးသူဝိညာဉ်ရဲ့ ငြိမ်းချမ်းမှုကို အဟန့်အတားဖြစ်နေပါတယ်။ ဒါကြောင့် မီးသင်ဂြိုဟ်တဲ့ေနရာကို အမျိုးသမီးများလာရောက်ခွင့်မပြုတာဖြစ်ကြောင်းလည်းသိခွင့်ရခဲ့ပါတယ်။ နောက်ထပ်သိရှိရတာကတော့ မီးသင်္ဂြိုဟ်လို့မရတဲ့ အလောင်းတွေလည်းရဇိပါတယ်။ ကလေးငယ်များ၊ ကိုယ်ဝန်ဆောင်မိခင်များ၊ မြွေကိုက်ခံရပြီးသေဆုံးသူများနဲ့ သာသနာ့ဘောင်ထဲက ပုဂ္ဂိုလ်များ(Sadhus)ရဲ့ ရုပ်အလောင်းတွေကိုတော့ မီးသင်္ဂြိုဟ်ခြင်းမပြုပဲ ဂင်္ဂါမြစ်ထဲကို တိုက်ရိုက်ရေမျှောကြရကြောင်းကိုလည်း သိရှိခဲ့ရပါတယ်။ ကျွန်တော် လေ့လာမေးမြန်းသိရှိခဲ့တာကတော့ ဒီလောက်ပါပဲ။ မိတ်ဆွေတို့လည်း ကျွန်တော့်ရဲ့ မျှဝေမှုကြောင့် ဗဟုသုတအနည်းငယ်လောက်ရရှိခဲ့မယ်ဆိုရင် အင်မတန် ဝမ်းသာမိမှာအမှန်ပဲဖြစ်ပါတယ်။
