3rd party risk is off the charts.
The brokers do fractional reserve with the stocks.
As long as they have the cash to cover, evertything goes along like the dream they sold to you, but when things crash, and they don't have enough to cover, it all falls apart.

Assets in your own possesion are much better than paper promises from a salesman, imo.
