Hello 👋 My Stemian Friends,
In my previous posts i have written a bit about some development terms like like:
- The Journey of Being a Developer
- The best working environment a Developer should have
Today i want to write about Mentorship and how to be a great Mentor and the road you should take toward mentorship in the software industry 💡
The definition of Mentorship:
- Mentorship is a skill that everyone who have the willignes to help the others should follow
Before starting to mentor, you should have a lot of attributes not only being a great developer but also attributes like:
- Great Technical Expertise
- Self Management
- The Perfect Project Delivery Score
- Strong at Communications
- Strong at Collaboration and Teamwork
Learn from the best
Learning to mentor you will need support and a lot of resources. This is something that in order to archieve it you should follow in specifics and in details a proposed mentor’s guidance.
What you should do?
- Find a Mentor and Learn from him
- Set your targets 🎯 in every step and work hard to reach those targets
- Start your self giving guidance to others who need it
- Have the willingness to help the other
- Start from a small project, lead that Project
- Start from a small group, mentor that Group
In my opinion this is a skill that needs time and you can’t learn it in one day or in a short period of time but:
- Trough intensive training
- Trough working closely with your mentor and a small project
- Through working with a small group of people into a concrete project
you can get there 😉
Sincerely
Gianni
