Hey, do you like eggs? I love eggs and there are so many ways to cook them that make every meal interesting and delicious to eat. You’re probably familiar with omelettes, fried eggs, poached eggs, steamed eggs, and boiled eggs... But have you ever tried runny yolk eggs marinated in soy sauce?
It does sound interesting, doesn't it? But they taste even better than they sound. Let’s follow me to make some yummy eggs, easy and simple.
Ingredients:
- 10 eggs
- Soy sauce, sugar, water, salt
- Onion, shallot, garlic
- Sesame seeds
How to make it:
- Step 1: the most important thing of this dish is perfect runny yolks. The secret to making them runny is you need to boil them just enough time, too short and they’re undercooked, too runny, too long and they’re fully hard. So this is how you cook it. Bring a pot of water to a gentle boil and carefully add the eggs and stir gently so the yolks stay centered. Let them cook for only 5.30 mins to 6 mins. Once done, move the eggs into cold water, then peel the shell. As I have mine here. You can adjust the time slightly depending on how runny you like your yolk.
- Step 2: Making the sauce to marinate the eggs. In a pot, pour 1 bowl of water, add 1 and a half bowl of soy sauce, ⅓ bowl of sugar, and ½ teaspoon of salt. Mix them well and cook until boiling. Let it cool to room temperature. (I use the rice bowl)
- Step 3: While waiting for the sauce to cool down, lightly toast some sesame seeds and chop onion, spring onion, and garlic to add flavor to the marinade later.
- Step 4: Prepare a glass container or tupperware, put the eggs in, when the sauce is totally cooled down, pour the sauce with the rest of the ingredients into the eggs. Close the cover and keep it in the fridge for a day to let the flavors soak in.
One day later..
Tada, look at these beautiful eggs that we just made. The yolk is creamy and rich, perfectly balanced with the sweet salty soy sauce. They are absolutely delicious that good on their own or with a bowl of white rice.
Now, let’s enjoy the food with me,
