Serving others first
One of my favorite parables is the Parable of the Long Spoons. It's been passed around so many times, and referenced many more times - so I'm not sure where the credit is due! You might have heard of it yourself. If not, take a peek at the minute-long video above. It's a great illustration of it.
For those who prefer the written word, allow me to explain briefly. A man was invited to view heaven and hell and saw that both were a feast of delicious, sumptuous foods. In both places, the people had very long spoons attached to their arms.
In hell, the people were starving and angry, as they tried unsuccessfully to bring the long spoons back to their mouths.
In heaven, the people quickly realized that in order for all to be fed, they must all feed one another.
It's such a simple lesson, isn't it? And yet, so powerful. When we are so greedy and focused on filling our own bellies, we destroy ourselves AND the people around us. Bitterness spills out from every pore and contaminates the entire space with the hard-hearted selfishness that is the core of every action.
When our hearts are honestly and genuinely in the right place, goodness and compassion overflow to everyone around us, creating harmony, unity, peace and joy.
So what does this have to do with our Dreem Teem?
We have been focused on how to build our dreem out into reality. You might think that you were creating your teem, so that you could have the ultimate support to your project. And, hopefully - that WILL happen. But it doesn't happen by you feeding yourself first...
It happens by feeding others.
So for the people you named on your Dreem Teem this week - your job is to take one day for each person (or... support each, every day!) and focus on THEM.
Don't make this a quick little "Great job! Keep going" type of encouragement. INVEST in the people that YOU CHOSE for your own teem. Give to them! Love them! One of my favorite passages in the Bible is where the apostles are debating (as they often did haha) over who should be the greatest among them. Christ gently rebukes them and tells that that if they want to be great in the Kingdom, they should learn to be a servant first.
This is your week to be of service to your teem.
On Thursday, your challenge is to tell us all what this week was like for you. Did it shift anything in your mindset? Did you spoonfeed lots of people -without expecting anything in return? Were you surprised that even though you were feeding, that you also got fed in return?
Tell us all about it! There are no wrong or right posts. Only your experience this week. Share the good, the bad, the ugly, and the beautiful! Can't wait to hear about your experience, dreemers!!
DUE IN DREEMPORT ON THURSDAY, DEC 7 - BY END OF SUBMISSION DEADLINE!
Will there be points given for this for our Dreemer of the Year challenge? YEP... As each dreemer gets their encouragement this week, start thinking... which person really went out of their way to make you feel supported and "fed"? On Friday, you will have lots of comments to choose from - and submit the link to your FAVORITE and most supportive comment to DreemPort's COMMENT OF THE DAY
We will announce the winners in the comment section, and award extra points to be announced in next week's report and leaderboard by ! ❤️
