They just quietly eat away at your focus, your energy, and your peace, until one day you notice something feels off.
I have found having family and friends who can be sounding boards or provide "come to Jesus" type conversations helpful. Sometimes you don't know you are heading in a negative direction, but those around you can see it happening and lovingly bring it to your attention. Other times I know I'm in a funk and will talk about it with someone to work through it.
