My Evie use to play and enjoy 3 or 4 parks around Sheung Wan. It comes to my mind, how many Dog's Park are in Hong Kong?
If you think, Hong Kong may be a bustling metropolis of skyscrapers and neon lights, but tucked between its steep hills and historic alleyways are little green sanctuaries where city dogs like my beloved Evie can stretch their paws and breathe freely. With around 70 official dog parks across the territory, pet parents are slowly gaining more spaces to share with their furry companions—though many of us still dream of even more green room in this densely packed city.
For us, Sheung Wan has always been home—not just for its vibrant street art, colonial shophouses, and weekend flea markets, but for its surprisingly dog-friendly corners. Evie, my energetic and ever-curious pup, has trotted through three or four small parks in this neighborhood alone. Her favorites?
- Hillier Street Pet Garden: A cozy, fenced space just off the main bustle—perfect for morning sniff sessions and meeting neighborhood dogs.
- Blake Garden: Though not an official off-leash zone, this quiet hillside park lets Evie explore on-leash while watching the city wake up below.
- Sandy Bay (near Kennedy Town border): A bit of a hike, but the open grassy area by the water is pure joy for her—especially at sunset.
Evie’s routine used to weave through these spots like a daily pilgrimage. Rain or shine, she’d pull me toward Hillier Street with that unmistakable “It’s park time!” look in her eyes. In a city where space is luxury, these green dots on the map mean more than exercise—they’re moments of calm, connection, and community.
Hong Kong may not be known as a pet paradise, but places like Sheung Wan remind us that even in concrete jungles, love—and wagging tails—find a way to bloom.
