Today I want to share a picture of beautiful sweet William and also now as bearded pink. Family name is Caryophyllaceae - Pink, Carnation . Botanical name is dianthus barbatus. These flowers belong to kingdom plantae. It belongs to class Magnoliopsida - Dicotyledons, Dicots, Eudicots.Usually blooms in spring and summer . The height of the plant is 13cm to 92cm.The size of the flower is 2cm-3cm. Its hardness zone is 3-9. Planting time is early spring and late autumn.
It can spread about 15cm to 30cm. It needs sandy ,loam,neutral ,slightly alkaline soil. It is a symbol of passion, capriciousness, affection, love, gratitude, admiration.Native to southern Europe.
They are in different colors such as red white purple pink.
They are edible. They have medicinal properties. It requires full sunlight to partial sun.
It is oftenly used for decoration. Fertilize once in spring.
Trimmed the leaves once a month. It can grow in excellent drainage pots. It can propagate by cutting and sowing and division. Its planting time is spring and autumn.
These flowers attract bees , birds and butterflies. It's scent is sweet and spicy. It's is mildly toxic for cats , dogs and horses. It can harvest late summer, and early autumn.
