Today, I found out about a very unique vegetable called Caralluma. It’s a wild plant that grows mostly in hilly and dry areas. It looks a little like a cactus — it doesn’t have leaves but has thick, finger-like stems. Some people also call it wild cactus or Jungli Chong in local language.
I was surprised to learn that people used to eat this vegetable not just as food, but as a way to stop hunger. In older times, when hunters or travelers didn’t have food, they would chew Caralluma to control their hunger. It’s a natural hunger blocker.
Caralluma also has other benefits. It helps in weight loss, supports fat burning, and even helps in controlling blood sugar and cholesterol. Some people boil it and eat it like a normal vegetable. Others make pickles, and nowadays, it’s also available in capsule or supplement form.
This vegetable doesn’t grow everywhere — it’s found in special places like mountain sides. I feel it’s a hidden gift from nature. We often forget about such wild plants, but they can be really helpful for our health.
Have you ever tested it?
