Not A Fanboy
It could very well turn out to be, that in twenty years this observer might be considered an expert on the career of Captain Ibrahim Traore. So the following declaration might become part of my permanent record.
Let it be known that I am not an Ibrahim Traore fanboy. Why the need to express this? Because there is a LOT of fanboy bullshit out there in cyberspace that is building the President of Burkina Faso up to be larger than life. This is a very American way of doing propaganda. So in a way it’s unsettling.
Let it also be know that I am not against him. And do indeed wish him well in running his country. And building it. The hype seems very much counter to the demeanor … the feel of his groove. I doubt he knows it’s happening. Traore is much too busy to follow fake news-hype channels even if they are praising him. Especially as they are English, this hype is for anglophones.
Earlier today I was watching a video about some beef between Traore and Jamaican Prime Minister, Andrew Holness. A deep fake video of Traore was talking about how he was defying an apology order issued by Holness to apologize to Jamaica for a speech he – (Traore) made – in Jamaica. The video describes Traore’s visit to Kingston … in English … which Traore reportedly does not speak … and even if he did he wouldn’t be speaking it in the way the video presented it. But here’s the thing, Traore has never been to Jamaica. He has never been to the US, at least in his capacity as President of his country. Thus, he could have never addressed the United Nations, not could address the people of Jamaica, in English, as claimed in the video.
So what’s the deal? Is the deep state trying to beef up a row between the Commonwealth (British colony) of Jamaica and the former French colony of Burkina Faso (formerly known as Upper Volta)?
Could be. We don’t know.
We have seen this type of stuff before in the hip-hop space, but not on a geopolitical level. Most of the Alt-Meldy media aren’t even checking for Africa as a whole, let alone Burkina Faso. We didn’t “fact check” the reports that Russia had made a deal with Burkina Faso. Nor did we do the same with the Chinese weapons systems delivery. The images looked good and the AI vox sounded auto-thoritative, but that’s the nature of AI is it not? It can sould soft and gentle, sultry and sexy or authentic and authoritative.
We want to see Burkina Faso do well. We want to see Africa and the Global South rise up and re-write the global narrative. What does the world look like to a population that comprises over half of the planet, and has been exploited, enslaved and subjugated for over 500 years? How will they rule? How will they trade? And how will western populations adapt when their economic lifelines come at fair value and not slave labor?
Just a few ideas.
But the big story is the fake news vis a vis President Ibrahim Traore. Let’s see what develops.
The Night of … 23611
We have been staying up too late at night. Mainly working on this. Solution. Start earlier. Finish earlier. Go to bed earlier. Wake up as usual only not sluggish.
It’s discount day at Ross. As previously mentioned we have been seeing signs that some Chinese merchandise has gotten through. We noticed a pair of pants on the rack. Liked the feel. They seemed light and durable. XL. Draw string. Made in China. Tried two pair. Same size. But not the same size. If you know what I mean. I have shopped in Chinese Bazaars in Malaysia. Closest I have been to China. Chinese humans are constructed differently. Or so it seems. They are “flatter” and wider. The clothes that the Chinese make for the Chinese market and diaspora don't fit me well. Especially the pants.
This is observation. Don’t mistake it as a complaint. One must know these things when one shops. If it’s made in China and you are American … especially a non-white American. Better try them on. Good thing too. XL. Elastic waistband, drawstring … less than ten bucks, plus ten percent off for having traveled … around the sun … a certain number of times. That left me enough cash in my pocket to take advantage of a Bogo … on laundry detergent! Are you kidding me? 100 loads for less than 8 bucks?! I can do laundry for a year. It’s a helpful savings because the onsite appliances cost to operate. Not too much. And they work well and are convenient.
We actually have been getting quite a few Transmissions from Universe. We just have not had, or taken the time to really put them together. So you get shopping experiences. Just consider yourself lucky I don’t blog every handful of cashews I pop into my mouth.
We have probably taken too big of a bite between the writing and the recording and the editing & posting. We do none of these tasks quickly. So it’s time consuming. Maybe I will back off on this one. Every other day? That will cover every day in a fortnight. Man. I didn’t even mention the training. We get outside to parks a couple times a week these days.
Trip coming up in two weeks.
Rent is due. Almost got it today but decided the funds could stay in there a while longer and earn some interest. I told myself I would pay on the 25th anyway. Or maybe that Monday.
Let it ride.
We had four episodes to upload. Three went smoothly and quickly. Number four is creeping. Maybe because I am multi-tasking.
Every so often … like now … I must keep in mind that I do this for Me. A journal to future self. I can decide not to do it. But that’s difficult. I feel funny if I miss a day. I used to feel that way about working out and training.
By the way – Meat-Off day. We are going to extend no meat one more day this week. Better take some chicken out to thaw tomorrow.
Back to routine. I used to not want to miss a day at the gym. I was doing six days a week, a year or two ago. Four at the gym. Two on the bars. All posted as part of the show. Now – it’s just the opposite. Maybe I hit the bars two days a week. Yet we get up at 5 AM and exercise daily too. It doesn’t seem to count for me unless I leave la casa. We can improve that as well.
Okay. Let’s wrap this up. Two or three proof-reading passes. No-doubt. (1 down.)
