I have now determined it is near impossible to wear down a 5yo and 3yo. We thought after letting them watch some of the Brisbane Lions, AFL Preliminary Final game and subsequent win last evening, way past their usual bedtime (cause that what Grandparents do, right) would be a compelling reason for a sleepin this morning Nooooooooooo they were up and about at 5.45am this morning as I headed off to my Junior parkrun volunteer duties Until I returned home, my wife and daughter (also home for a sleepover) took them to the annual Redcliffe Kite festival where I met them and walked around the park admiring the various kites active in the sky and the multitude of food and artifact stalls which are a grandparents nightmare with young kids in tow
After purchasing their kite selection, it was time to depart for home and Par (me) to assemble the kites ready for a trip to the beach for their maiden launch I appreciated the strong North Easterly wind this arvo as it made kite flying very easy.
But the wind was so strong, I couldn’t allow them to hold the plastic hand piece by themselves as they would have lost their kites Needless to say that was a contested decision and eventually the kites became a secondary appeal and the small shore waves won the day.
Problem was that was their only set of clothes and with only one towel in the car, we stripped their clothes off one by one, dried them and strapped them into the booster seats naked with the large towel covering them both Who knows what tomorrow will bring
