Today I’m just writing from heart, you know, in broken words, whatever came in mind I put it here. This restaurant you see in the picture… this is Vita Restaurant. It’s in Karachi. My childhood favourite place. Like really the place where my first food-love story started. When I ate Anda Chana first time from here… that taste still sitting on my tongue.
Anda chana was just boiled egg and some light gravy with chickpeas, but man the taste was something else. Those days eating from outside had its own fun. And Vita Restaurant was clean, very clean, lights shining, people sitting, full of life. It used to feel good just being there.
Then the fresh naan from tandoor, garlic naan had another type of vibe. Mixed salad… onion, cucumber, tomato… and raita, mint chutney… like complete combo. This is all around ten fifteen years old memories but feels like yesterday.
And after the meal we had one rule: dessert must. And our favourite dessert was kheer. Thick, cold, heavy… and the best part was they didn’t use sugar, they used shakkar (raw sugar). That made the taste soft and natural and honestly I still remember that kheer.
But today, after so many years when I went again to Vita Restaurant, my heart honestly broke. Picture is in front of you. This place used to be clean… now there’s dirt everywhere. Road is broken, nothing feels same. Don’t know what happened to this area of Karachi. Everything looks messed up compared to old days.
Old memories came back and little sadness too. Some places are not just food spots… they are memory spots. And Vita Restaurant was that kind of place for me.
