It is always such a beautiful day when we decide to go swimming. That is exactly the case for our last visit to our favorite swimming hole. It is a little out of the way place back in the woods.
The water was peacefully flowing and it wasn't too crowded. The kids jumped right in, while Stacie D () and I were wrangling the dogs.
I bet we weren't there for ten minutes when the kids started carrying on about a giant crawdad. I love catching them from the bottom of the stream, so they were trying to get me in on the action.
The trick to catch them is in the technique. Crawdads will swim away from you backward, so you have to be ready to catch the from behind.
I finally got sorted and jumped in where the kids were. The crawdad was about 3 to 4 feet underwater. It was just hanging out on the bottom. I was in!!
Where we swim, the crawdads are pretty small. They are only a couple of inches. This one was a real bull! It was by far the largest one that I have ever caught.
Thank you for sharing this amazing adventure. Do you have any crawdad stories? Let's hear it!
Be well
