Quick update.
I'd not heard anything from Our in several days, her departure was only a few days away, so I was worried that the damned Nicaraguan gov't had stuck it's head in there.
So I called.
I was right.
Now they are demanding that she pay $7,000.00! just to be able to leave that hell hole of a country, AND they want certified copies of all her medical records.
I said "don't they have that already?" she said , 'well not certified.'
So her son in Managua has cashed in all his savings to pay the 7K and plans are still for her to be tested today, Sunday the 11th, depart there tomorrow on the 12th.
Today, is the day they are supposed to come to HER to administer the covid tests, before she'll be allowed to leave on the Canadian Medivac tomorrow.
I called her this morning.
is SUPPOSED to get their (hers and son William) Covid tests today. The Nicaraguans are SUPPOSED to come to her compound to do this.
Son Chris paid some considerable amount of $ for that to happen, so far, nothing has happened.- They are SUPPOSED to board a Canadian Medivac tomorrow, but when she tried to fill out the forms online, the Canadian online crap doesn't recognize THE AIRLINE she had to input, so they (I think she said) are going to fine her for not complying and filling out the forms online
- If/when they get to Canada, MHSA (not sure, what she said sounded like Mensa, the Canadian Ministry of Health) would board the plane, examine her to see if she were fit to go to the "Covid Hotel" (Internment Camp), which of course she is not fit, and needs to go straight to a medical facility.
I asked her: "My GOD, shouldn't you have some sort of 'Ombudsman' working in Canada on your behalf for all this? Isn't there a Canadian Consulate in Nicaragua?"
She said Ortega kicked the Canadian Consulate out of the country last Summer.
The "Ombudsman?" she said they are all at home, drawing a paycheck but not working, because of COVID
So at present, she has no word and no way to check if the Nicaraguan officials will actually come out there today (she thinks they don't even work on Sunday)or, if they have pocketed the money Chris paid for them to come out.
If they don't come administer the tests, the flight out is a no go.
Then if they do come out for the tests, tomorrow Chris will have to go pay the $7,000 for her passage out of Nicaragua.
