I was super happy to find this one!
This species has got to be my favorite snake species on our homestead. This particular individual was actually found where I was doing some work, and it's the smallest one I've found to date. An amount of scattered debris was on the ground in the area where I was helping some people out. Not wanting to accidentally step on (or next to) something with a rattlesnake or copperhead under it, I peeked underneath some of the debris in our work area. Thankfully, no venomous snakes were found, and I found this cute little speckled kingsnake under the second thing I flipped. Check out the coloration and patterns on this little guy.
