The first time we heard this word about Autism, it was when my nephews were 4 years old, Angel who was diagnosed with ADD (autism spectrum development disorder), if our sister's head was filled with so many questions at that moment, ours Anyway, these were my sister's questions at that time.
ADD?
Why my son?
Why my family?
These are questions that go around in parents when they give him the diagnosis, Angel was diagnosed with a speech problem, which were other questions on my mind, will he speak? Will mom or dad say one day?, what will their future be like.
Already when we were learning about Autism with my nephew, that the diet was going to make us different, daily life would not be the same as that of another family, it is strong, because when he talks to you about ADD, it is like something bad that they will not be able to do for it. to have a normal life, not to walk. After two years my older nephew was also diagnosed with ADD, but functional, my sister at that moment felt that the world was going to fall apart, because he was not one but two.
Angel and Jesus
I think that apart from the diagnosis given to parents, the worst of all are the comments that people around you make, when they tell us why your nephew is like that?
-Because he doesn't socialize with other children
- Because your nephew doesn't speak.
-Because he doesn't look when spoken to - have a hearing problem
. He stops counting the comments.
But everything they expressed in the diagnosis was the opposite. This was a small introduction.
My eldest nephew Jesus
Today he is a 13-year-old boy, who is studying in his 9th year of high school, he is a bit quiet, but although we believe that he does not pay attention, it is the opposite, he listens to everything, he is attentive to everything around him.
Jesus
In the municipality where we live, there is little information on autism, there is no school for autistic children, much less at the high school level, they studied their primary school normally, just like other children, although as I told you, Jesus was silent, he did his homework, He had good teachers who supported him. But when they went to study their first year of high school, the Lyceum where they were going to enroll him got a NO answer, that they did not want to have Autistic youngsters, my sister fought as best she could until they accepted Jesus, since his autism is small.
Jesus in high school
He carries out the activities and evaluations of him, he learns in a different way, when he is bored by a subject he is not afraid to say that he is boring. The tasks that are sent by his teachers are done with the help of his classmates and mother, but he is a diligent child. He loves the computer, painting, drawing digitally, drawing cartoons and freehand images in 3d, he has a project in mind that is to make a video game.
Jesus in class
My Second Nephew Angel
Today she is eleven years old, she is in her second year of high school, the diagnosis was about a speech problem, today it is difficult for her to speak, but she does it, she makes presentations in class, the English teacher says that one of the best students, since their pronunciation with English is perfect. But her great pillar so that both brothers are studying has been her mother, who has dedicated her to helping the teachers of how my nephews learn, but she is closer to Angel than to Jesus, since Angel's Autism is more severe, than that of Jesus.
Angel
But despite the fact that both the noise bothered them, they have adapted to the environment, when their classmates move the desks, what they do is breathe, leave the room for a moment, drink water, go back in, but without a crisis, they have not needed use a hearing aid to be outdoors, little by little they have learned to become independent and learn.

Despite the labels that have been found along the way, my nephews are exceptional children. ales, who until today have had a friend who helps and supports him to grow forward, as well as his teachers see the interest that they want to get ahead, they have supported him in his learning.
Angel and Jesus
His mother is currently President of a Foundation for people with Autism where she carries out activities related to supporting parents, children and young people with Autism, where parents seek guidance, in a close way. Since the CAIPA centers remain in other municipalities, they are low-income parents.
