We are in a world filled with endless pursuits and distractions and in the long run, we can't have it all and during this process we all often forget the blessings that we quietly enjoy and overlook in our daily lives. We chase after success, fame, wealth, popularity and recognition hoping to find fulfillment and in the process we fail to acknowledge the silent blessings, priceless blessings, underrated blessings right under our noses.
I'm not saying we always or intentionally forget about thses blessings but sometimes we are actually ungrateful sometimes we are probably caught up in the noise of life to pause and reflect on these little blessings of ours.
There are some things we enjoy freely and we don't know that they are blessings to us and they are
1. Peace of Mind
Having peace of mind is one of the most underrated blessings in a world filled with chaos, war going on in some countries, people having anxiety and also people constantly comparing their success to others which eventually make them lose their peace. peace has becomes rare recently because life has become tougher than ever, the economy is in shambles and people go to sleep every night battling inner storms, so if you can go to bed without anxiety, if you can go to bed without being scared of bomb blast, to be honest you're truly blessed.
If you're one of those that have peace of mind, kindly protect your peace, nourish and maintain your mental health, and distance yourself from anything or anyone that constantly robs you of it.
2. Clean Water and Food
It might sound simple and probably you might think it's normal to have clean water and food but there are people out there that don't have access to food and clean water. You have ability to drink clean water or eat three meals a day without worry is a huge privilege and that's a blessing that everyone don't have. Millions of people walk miles just to fetch a bucket of water, some have to drink water from rivers without oroper filtration and some go to bed on an empty stomach and they wish they could just have a proper meal and clean water. It's easy to forget how fortunate we are when these things come so effortlessly without struggling for it.
Remember this before you waste that plate of food or let the tap run unnecessarily there are people out there that would trade everything for it.
3. A Roof Over Your Head
Whether you are living in a mansion or a one room apartment or in a car, having a shelter is a gift and so so many people are forced to sleep under bridges, in an open unsafe spaces, on the road because they have no option or privileges that you do have. Having a space to call your own, no matter how small it is, it is something to cherish and not complain about because many wish to have what you barely appreciate.
4. The Gift of Movement
Your ability to walk, stretch, dance, run, lift, ride bicycle, dtive a car, chase after chickens, taking your dog on a walk and move freely is something many people would give anything to regain. Until something happens, we rarely appreciate what our bodies can do daily without complaining. Take care of your body, exercise when you can, eat healthy foods and never take your physical ability for granted.
5. The People Who Truly Care
You may not have a large circle of friends or you may not have people you call your friends but if you have even just one person who genuinely cares about your well being and the person is always honest with you, you're blessed because it takes a lot to have someone like that in this world filled with pretense, deceitful friends, untrustworthy friends, having genuine love and support are priceless. Take care of such relationships because they are rare.
Life moves fast and in that speed of time, we often miss these blessings that form the foundation of our joy, health, and fulfillment. Let's practice gratitude more intentionally and be more grateful. Let's start each day by naming three things you’re thankful for, no matter how small because life becomes richer and meaningful when we stop to appreciate the little luxuries we often overlook.
Thanks for reading.
Keep counting your silent blessings, they speak louder than you think.
