It doesn't need much effort to see darkness in the world at the moment, it's everywhere we look and permeates through almost every aspect of life whether it's rising living costs, housing crisis, declining service, environmental woes, inflation, health systems stretched to breaking point, wars, civil unrest, violet crime, government and corporate fraud and general bad behavior and right down to individual people acting badly, causing trouble and taking advantage of others. It's so very draining and negative.
Seeing the light, the good and positive things being done, seems a little more difficult each year, it's being overshadowed by the negative, and a person has to work much harder to find it, but I believe when the darkness descends is when we must work all the more harder to see the light.

I read a quote somewhere which suggested there's two ways of spreading light: By being the candle that shines it outwards, or the mirror that reflects it.
I forget who said that but it's a lovely thought and feels a perfect thing for us all to remember. Being a good person, kind, friendly, helpful, generous, loving and charitable are good ways to be the light and being grateful to, encouraging and respectful of others who do such things is a nice way to reflect it so that other people can see it and pay reflect it also.
Darkness has a place, it's in the darkness that the smallest pinpoint of light can be seen after all - the stars at night for example - however it must be balanced with light, the two working with and against each other as night follows day in an endless cycle. I think that's how it is for people also, good and bad things happen, but it's important to remember that each of them is not a permanent state.
