Our lives are filled with gifts, life itself is a gift or so I believe and over my own I have received many others, but I'm not talking about a present wrapped and handed to me, the word gift, in my understanding of it, goes much deeper than that.
I don't think I could define what the greatest gift I have received is...Life itself, the fact I was born and have the chance to live a life probably. However, that aside, is the greatest gift my health? Is it the here and now, the present time, knowing the future is undefined? Is it the ability to feel love and passion for others, nature and myself? I don't really know, however I see those things as gifts along with time. I say time because the gift of time gives me the ability to explore, develop and enjoy the others.

I have received many physical gifts, mostly from someone who understands me, respects and values me and seeks to show that in many ways including physical gifts. It feels nice to give, and if done genuinely, without an agenda, both the giver and receiver benefit tremendously. But what about the gifts we give ourselves, are they just as valuable? I think they are.
Thinking about what I've gifted myself brings me happiness.
The gift of kindness, forgiveness and understanding has allowed me a little room to be the fallible human I am. The gift of courage and strength has moved me forward in difficult times and the gift of candour, openness and honesty to myself has brought better decisions. There's more of course, a person should present themselves with many gifts, neatly wrapped by design and the gifts that come unexpectedly; all have value and all move us through the ultimate gift, our lives, a little more confidently.
