It's that time of the year where most people are out celebrating be it end of working year events or Christmas and new year's eve gatherings and parties. It often means we eat and drink more and that can have adverse effects even though it can feel so good.
It's common knowledge that we as a society eat badly.
Fast foods, food preservatives, additives and colorings, excessive carbohydrates, sodium and fats, highly processed foods, alcohol and artificial sweeteners all add to the problem and when combined with a more sedentary lifestyle that society tends to live now it adds up to a lot of ill-effects and ill-health.
Loads of fat unhelathy people.
I'm no different to others in that I like to indulge at this time of the year however I'm also quite aware of when to stop eating and drinking and have the self-discipline to actually do it, my life depends on it. I'm also very active year round; being fit and healthy doesn't come easily but the benefits of it are worth the effort.
That's how I feel anyway. I'd rather put in a lot of effort regularly so that on those occasional times when I don't eat as healthily as I should, like at this time of year, it doesn't have too much of a negative health effect on me.
I enjoy cheat days but I enjoy having a healthy and fit body all the time - there's enough fat and unfit people in the world, I do not want to be one of them.
