No idea how this post will evolve. This morning in my car, I was thinking about crypto in general and of course also about Hive.
When thinking about Hive, several questions came to mind:
- What does Hive need, to grow as never seen before?
- What is the unique selling point of Hive?
- Will Hive ever can replace the regular social media?
- What's the future of Hive?
- How does a new user see Hive?
- Does this user see potential?
- What will keep the new users here?
Asking these questions is easy, answering them is another cup of tea! And to be honest, I am mostly clueless. Of course we do know that when the bulls will enter the market, the value of Hive will increase. No doubt about that.
We also know that Hive is more than just a blogging platform where one can create a blog easily and earn some money with it.
We also have games running on Hive, casinos and shitload of Hive derived tokens.
We can claim that we also have a community.
I also understand that for new users it has become harder to grow compared to the days when I did enter the Hive community. Back in those days, the curators only got a 20% share of the post, nowadays this is 50%. So when you wrote a great/good post or did get the support of some bigger accounts, your HP could skyrocket. While with the 50/50 split, one can say that more people are curating, I do think that it is harder for a new member to get foot on the ground.
Also, why would they join Hive and not things like Medium, Facebook, Twitter or others? Mostly with the last 2, lot's of their friends are already on board, which makes it easier to feel part of the community.
We have to be honest there are only 2 reasons for new users to stay. On one side it is being part of a community, on the side it is just Money/Hive/Hive Power.
I do think that Hive has a great track record and did grow immense from just being a blogging platform, but I have no clue what the future will have in mind for Hive.
Feel free to see if you can answers the questions above and let's have a discussion!
Cheers,
Peter
