Earlier today I interacted with someone who's on a fast-track to nowhere good at the moment and for some time now as it turns out. I don't know the person well thankfully so can only guess as to the reasons they're so intent upon going nowhere quickly and taking the actions that will carry them exactly there. In truth, the person is there already and it seems to me there's little chance they'll be able to turn the backslide around.
Of course, the person sees themselves differently to how everyone else sees them, hubris and ego contribute there; intelligent, sharp-minded, entitled, self-important, valid and relevant are amongst the list of items on their self-list I'd imagine...at least that's how they present themselves. The reality is probably the total opposite though, as often is the case.
I was thinking about this situation in respect of the Hive blockchain earlier as those same types of people exist here and the behaviours are very similar, especially in respect of the entitlement they often feel.
There's a long list of such people, often argumentative, opinionated and inflexible, blustering, abusive, and certainly possessing of a strong sense of entitlement. They usually stomp around vomiting vitriol, anti-Hive sentiment and whinge and complain about what they don't have, why others have more and generally try to tear others down rather than lift themselves up through effort and hard work. Yep, typical behaviours and all of which put them on a fast-track to nowhere.
Conversely, there's those who support others, get actively involved with the community in positive ways, inject passion and personality into their posts and commenting and apply effort to what they do on the blockchain. Interestingly, these people often move forward and upward as far as profile in the community and with their own account progression goes, which makes sense. I know many such people, I see some of them in the concepts I run weekly, in comments to my own posts and generally around the community spreading value, positivity and good vibes around the blockchain.
Thinking about both types of people, in respect of their progression or regression here, made me select the quote for today's post, a sage bit of advice from the little greenish man thing himself, Yoda.

There's many different ways to say this I suppose, but no matter the words, the meaning is powerful.
I believe it to be true in real life, the offline world, and here also, Hive and other online places. People will reap from the harvest of that which they sow, meaning if a person puts the right things in, the right things will be returned...if not then not. People get what they deserve I suppose I could quite simply say.
Of course, both types of people I mention above probably feel they're getting what they want but are they really?
The behaviours each type of individual engage in will fast-track them somewhere but that destination isn't always what they bargained on. Being destructive isn't a good way to build something solid, but laying a firm foundation then working to raise it up little by little is. It works in real life and here on the Hive blockchain too. Open relationships and nurture them, post and comment with alacrity and personality, support others and get involved...that's a solid platform and building process. Whinge, complain, be abusive and arrogant...hmm, that's not going to go well and there's many accounts that prove it if you care to look.
Doing the right things in the right proportions can help fast-track...Hmm, actually I don't think there's necessarily a fast-track at all here on Hive...not upwards anyway. There's a downward fast-track though and it's remarkable at how quickly a person can self-destruct their own account, that downward spiral is a slippery slope.
I wonder though, what are your thoughts on this topic in respect of Hive or in the offline world for that matter?
How did your thoughts and attitudes, and the actions you took impact upon your progression from the earliest days to now? Did you feel a sense of entitlement and seek to fast-track without putting in the effort or were you more of a builder, one who set a good base down then began to construct something solid atop it? How do you push forward...with abuse and arrogance or with passion and personality?
Feel free to comment below and tell me about your process, what worked and what didn't and how you see your progress moving forward from here.
