I find human nature fascinating and repulsive at the same time.
The former because it's interesting to study and understand behaviours, moods and attitudes and the latter because those behaviours, moods and attitudes are often quite reprehensible. I don't like people much, although I should probably amend that to most people are assholes and I don't like assholes.
Anyway, marketers are adept at understanding human thought and behaviour and use it to manipulate people into buying products and services - that's been the case informally and formally for a long, long time. It's quite polished these days, scientific even, and the majority of people find marketing difficult to resist and buy to the point of wastefulness; but that's a different post.
Today I'm focused on brand names and the power they hold over people and that extends to brand images, symbols and logos of course.
The image above is probably recognisable to most, the Chevrolet badge, but if you don't know it I'm sure the big yellow 'M' on a red background would be recognisable right? (McDonalds of course). These images draw people in and the marketing around the brands and symbols they use keep people spending mostly because they pitch their product as better for your life, something that will make you more than you are...which is usually utter bullshit.
What brands do you instantly recognise and why? What brands are so entrenched in your mind that they are the first thing you think of when you think of a product? Feel free to comment on this or anything related or unrelated below if you want to.
