We all have favourite places to do things whether out in public or in our homes; we're creatures of habit I guess and whilst some habits can be bad ones and work counter-productively to one's progression towards a best-life (or better life) scenario there's a lot of good habits too. The word habit doesn't imply good or bad, it's simply a noun that indicates something we do often and with regularity.
I think we could all list many but I wanted to focus on three I find very important to my life and for which I have some favourite places to engage in:
Reading: I love reading as it allows me to take a step back from the reality of life, the complications and stresses, and through reading I feel like I've walked through a door of some sort to another place; this is especially so when I read fiction and historical non-fiction - I'm simply somewhere else. I have a few places I like to do this within my own home and outside of it in public spaces but no matter where I read I feel I'm outside of the boundaries of my own life.
I can read anywhere of course, but settling down in my favourite home-spots or some garden or quiet place when out of my home is where I most love to read.
Contemplation and reflection: This is something I can do anywhere although I have some favourite spots (like natural places) to do it as I'm more easily able to delve inwards. Somewhere with plants around (or water) and a window to the outside world with a natural vista in front of me works too. In the latter scenario I guess I feel more connected to myself and the planet in general and less connected to other people which helps me to set aside things that are superfluous to my wellbeing and work through my thoughts, or find my true thoughts and feelings more easily.
It is places like the above image I have found great enlightenment and many solutions...or just a feeling of understanding or happiness.
Connected time with my partner: This is incredibly important especially for two people who have lives as busy and complicated as ours are. We talk daily, work through problems, opportunities and other life-related things but a lot of that happens with little true connection and as a matter of course; we also need to feel connected person-to-person, discover again bond that caused us to come together and stay together, the ember that rose to a flame and the passion that still exists. We do this in various ways: On the couch watching a series, cooking and eating together, camping or doing an outdoor adventure and through travelling the world also. We also do it at home surrounded by our plants, with our cat, over a meal or cup of tea or coffee music playing quietly, or just laying in our hammocks to name only a few places.
No matter where, this essential time is one of the reasons we are so connected and together.
