(Inspired by 's on what differentiates successful people)
I have been engaged with 's insightful post on the core differences between successful and unsuccessful people. It got me thinking less about the trappings of success and more about the underlying behaviors that create it.
As galenkp pointed out, it often down to a series of daily choices in the attitude, the mindset and action.
Here is what i figured out:
1. The Relationship with Failure
Successful: See failure as data not destiny. They unpack what went wrong learn the lesson and adapt their approach. A setback is just a setup for the smarter comeback.
Unsuccessful: Are paralyzed by fear of failure. They see it as a permanent reflection of their worth, which stops them from taking the every risk necessary for growth.
2. Their Focus
Successful: Focus on their own lane. their goals, their improvement. They compete with who they were yesterday.
Unsuccessful: Focus on every else's lane. They gossip, critique and obsess over other's journeys using it as a distraction from their own lack of action. As the saying goes, "Don't blame the sum for your inability to light a candle."
3. Their Source of Validation
Successful: Are intrinsically motivated. Their drive comes form a personal standard of excellence.
Unsuccessful: Seek external validation. Their mood and effort fluctuate based on the praise or criticism from other that makes their progress fragile and inconsistent.
